Fox River Magnum Passaround

Cmon guys, you really think I would shave my wifes dog? That is one road I will never go down!!!:D

I'm not touching that comment! :D:p You keep that stuff to yourself...;)

hehehe. Thanks Tony. It really is a sweet blade. I want one in burlap micarta.

That's the same one I've been eyeing since I got a hold of that proto....

I have to get my review up. I just got home from work awhile ago and have to be back up at 6 AM.

j - how was the edge when you got it? What did you think? Did you get my note?

Tony - thanks again for the opportunity on this. I promise to get my glowing review and pics up soon.

I missed having the FRM and the BL Goode blade together by a day on these passarounds. Busy, busy. Both nice blades!

Yeah, I got your note....The edge was great IMO. I stropped it up a little, but honestly, I dont think it needed it. Nice job on it!

Man you are right. That burlap micarta is sweeeeet!

I dont know, bro. I havent seen hide nor hair of it, but I'm not sure if I'm next in line or not...

I'm sorry. I have been busy. I will be doing some stuff with the knife tomorrow evening and Saturday morning and then shipping it on Saturday.

First impression is very good. I like the weight and feel of the knife. It fits my hand nicely and I really like the feeling of the handle. Its a very nice knife.

good deal guys!

I emailed Lee's info to cdrules.

Thanks for all the great reviews folks!

Take care,
Brett

Well, I played with it this morning and I have to say I am very impressed with this knife. More of a review with pictures to come later. I will be dropping off the knife at the post office today!

Its strange, cause my keppy had almost the same sheath(differant loop, and color) And that was one snug fitting sheath. The belt loop was a fold over riveted, not a sewn on loop. Wonder why this one is differant?

JRE made the sheathes with the folded over loop and the rivets.

Now Sharpshooter is making the BRKT sheathes. I personally don't care for the way the Sharpshooter beltloops are attached.

Sharpshooter uses more stitches per inch than JRE. But the sewn down beltloop really only fits a 1 1/2 belt that is fairly thin. There is no way it would work on my ranger belt. :thumbdn: The JRE sheathes also use a slightly thicker leather.

the knife shipped yesterday w/o issue. I will email the tracking information to Brett. Tomorrow evening I will have some pictures and a review.

Do to an outstanding job by you:thumbup:

Thank you for all your work and efforts :)

oh man, I wish. I think we just have a high caliber of gents participating.....:thumbup::thumbup:

Are you excited to get it back??

:)

Yeah I am, I don't have any high quality stainless blades. It will be nice to take with me.

This weekend at the ct gathering it was a wet one. Even though I did my best to keep my knives dry, when I got back home and unpacked them they all wew a lil rusty and took on a stain from the sheaths:eek: I am doing my best to clean them up, but its a slow process. Would have been nice to have one less knife to clean up;)

So I was testing out the knife. Caried it over to my parens house to do some work and though I would get something to eat:

While that was only some apple crisp and easy to cut the knife did a great job. I also used it to pick it up and carry it to my mouth. Yummy :D

Then I decided to go out and have some more fun. They have been doing some remodeling recently so they have a bunch of spare 2x4's sitting around. I decided to see if I could chop one up:

Now obviously this knife isn't a chopper and it didn't come super sharp but it ate that far in about a minute. It was comfortable to hold also.

Then I took it took it to some firewood that was laying around:

Batoned through there without any trouble. The wood was old and very dry.

Here is a picture of the few pieces that I split it into:

Then after all that work I went home and made myself a sandwhich:

It was a great day with the knife.

OK. So my thoughts are this. For cutting the cheese at the end the knife needed to be a little sharper (I suck at sharpening and didnt want to make the knife worse). Other than that however the knife was awesome. Great size to take on almost any task. It had a good feel to it and the micarta looks nice and I enjoy the smooth feel (I dont do any skining of deer so blood isn't something I deal with).

Tony you have one great knife there and thank you for letting me play with it.
