Everyone on BladeForums,

I am posting this as a final attempt to obtain a response and resolution from Francisco Vaz regarding an outstanding custom knife order that began over three years ago.

Project Summary
  • Project started: February 3, 2023
  • Time elapsed: 3 years and 4 months (as of June 3, 2026)
  • Total knives ordered: 5
  • Total amount paid: $2,670
  • Total email communications: 500+
  • Outstanding knife value: approximately $700
Over the course of this project, Francisco and I exchanged more than 500 emails regarding knife specifications, project updates, delivery schedules, shipping arrangements, and outstanding commitments. Given the volume of communication over more than three years, there can be no question that Francisco is fully aware of this order and the remaining obligation.

The first four knives were eventually delivered around August 2025. However, the fifth knife—a custom Yanagiba valued at approximately $700—has still not been shipped.

For more than nine months, I have been waiting for shipment of this final knife. Throughout that time, I remained patient and repeatedly requested updates. I also informed Francisco that if he was unable to complete or ship the knife, I would accept a full refund and consider the matter resolved.

Instead, I have received no meaningful resolution.

As of today, Francisco Vaz has not responded to any of my emails since May 18, 2026. I have made multiple attempts to contact him regarding either shipment of the knife or a refund, but my communications have gone unanswered.

After more than three years, $2,670 in payments, and over 500 emails exchanged, I believe I have given every reasonable opportunity for this matter to be resolved privately.

Therefore, I am posting publicly for two reasons:

  1. To document my experience for anyone considering a custom knife project with Francisco Vaz.
  2. To ask Francisco Vaz to publicly respond and provide a clear resolution regarding the outstanding knife or refund.
Francisco, if you read this, I am simply asking for one of two things:
  • Ship the Yanagiba that has already been paid for, or
  • Refund the $700 owed for the undelivered knife.
Those are reasonable requests after more than three years of waiting, over 500 emails exchanged, and numerous attempts to resolve this matter privately.

If anyone in the community is in contact with Francisco, I would appreciate it if you could encourage him to respond to this thread or to my emails.

I would much rather update this thread with a positive resolution than continue documenting a lack of communication.

Thank you for your time.
