So, as some of you may know, I've begun plans for my own slipjoints, but I've had something else up my sleeve... Forged fixed blades.

Here is my first completed knife with some progress pics. Large bowie forged from a leaf spring(5160), edge quenched, and heat treated in-house. Blade length is 8.25" with a 6.5" handle with bronze hardware, jatoba scales, a convex edge, tapered tang, with a "crusher" (doubles as a bottle opener:D) extending from the bottom of the handle. Sharp enough to shave, and strong enough to chop down a small tree.

I have created a monster!!

Awesome monster bro! Must feel pretty good to pound out your own knife, especially one that assist in opening beers:D Hope to see more works!

Evan, that is awesome! Looks likes it would make a good chopper. I really enjoy your WIP photos as well. I'll be scooping up one of your #15 conversions when the right one comes along, keep up the good work man!

Evan, that thing is a BEAST! It looks like it would be a great chopper. I like the skull crusher, hopefully you tested that out on a few enemy beer bottles just to be sure.

Nice work out of the gate, can't wait to see what comes up next!

I especially like your handle. I can see where it would help to give you even more force to drive the knife through whatever you wanted to chop. Well done!

That looks fantastic Evan. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next..

Thanks for the kind words everyone! This was a really fun project, now I just have to get my wife to let me build a forge in our back yard... I'll try to post something later after I put it trough some work.

That is one awesome chopper bud! You'll have a lot of fun putting her through some trials. :)

Just tell your wife you're building a "playhouse" in the backyard... heh, heh.

Yes dear it is a forge...but it doubles as an outdoor pizza oven/entertainment area.
Top job. Thanks for the progress shots.

Evan, that looks nasty! :D  And effective as large cutting tool

Looking at that, to my mind, I see a Marbles Ideal influence minus the fuller of course.

Looks like it will do some work.

Nice work Evan, a beautiful beast for sure, as is your anvil
