Saturday, August 24, I responded to a KnifeForums Individual Sales listing, and purchased (PayPal F&F) from the above Gold member (since 2011), after seeing that he was a gold member of long-standing. Became suspicious when no reply to query about shipping and tracking no.. Reported concerns to KnifeForums. Received message from seller that shipping and tracking on following Monday. (Learned later that Knife Forums listing was taken down about same time I registered my concern.) Sunday, received message from seller asking if I wanted any more of his knives. I responded, no. Since that time there have been no further answers to my queries about shipping and tracking. Interestingly, I had a bad feeling about this transaction from the git-go but didn't stay with my gut; I wanted that knife. I'm out the price and that's on me but I hope this may help so that no one else gets sucked in. Also, the phone number to watch out for is: 1 (656) 231 9385. Best wishes.

Did you list your email in the sale thread? If so, you were probably defrauded by a third party pretending to be the seller, as has happened to many here who do not have access to direct messaging.

alliuse alliuse What sayest thou?

Not that sale thread, but it was previously posted in another and easily found in seconds. Phone number too.

As I suspected. Thread title is changed to "suspected" in the absence of the other side of the story.

After checking BladeForum bonafides, I acquiesced to seller's request for PayPal Friends & Family payment ("pedrovargas154@outlook.com). After promising he would ship on the following Monday, with forwarded tracking -- no further contact or response. He removed BladeForums listing of the knife i paid for, and three others, shortly after receiving my PayPal money. Just another scoundrel with no integrity. I expect nothing from CI3.com investigation, but hope putting his contact info out there may be helpful to someone else; he lists some nice knives (Bark Rivers).

You've listed your email publicly on this site. Are you sure you were contacted by alliuse alliuse and not somebody pretending to be alliuse alliuse ?

Please provide links to the sale thread and details of exactly how you were contacted and what transpired.

Based upon recent history, there's a good chance that you were scammed as a result of not being able to send DMs.

Apparently this is the sale thread, where the seller indicates that he has not reached out to you.

OP, this new thread has been merged with the original, which we have already replied to. Do not open additional threads. If you have additional information to provide, post it here.

I was out running errands when I received an e-mail alert that Larryb1939 had responded to the sale thread. Unfortunately I don’t know my bladeforums login password (it is saved on my iPad). When I got back home and logged in I saw the second message and was initially confused (Larryb1939 was asking for tracking info, which seemed to mean that he had sent payment…my first thought was how did he get my PayPal info. I then checked my PayPal account and had not received any payment…then it seemed as though he had been scammed).

I felt like the thread had been soured with the statement “I am concerned that this thread has been hacked” and thus removed the thread. It does sound like Larryb1939 was scammed and I hate that it was as a result of a thread that I had started.

You can't be held responsible for folks taking a "penny-wise, pound foolish" approach to how they transact on open forums when there is so much evidence of the dangers involved. A simple $10 annual investment would have insured the ability to have private interactions which would have nipped the issue in the bud before it ever developed.

Sorry, I just now learned how to find your response to my concern, and later complaint. I think I can send a copy of the PayPal notification of payment if that would be helpful in determining whether it is yours or not. Easier still, you can find my complaint in which I list both your BladeForums ID and the PayPal address to which the money was sent. Either is satisfactory, I would just like resolution. Thanks.

My apologies for not responding sooner, I am still poor at navigating the website with respect to communication. I have just now found this string and have also replied to Alliuse as well. The only copy of the contact I received was from Alliuse, there was no number associated. The listing is removed and I'm not sure how to send you a copy of the screenshot I took of what remained. I've no idea where any hacking occurred or how. My initial since of assurance with the dreaded PayPal F&F payment came from the fact that Alliuse is a Gold member of long-standing, and so I reluctantly paid via that mode, as requested. Secondly, the comment about how a $10/year payment would have protected me is unclear; how would that be? I guess I erroneously assumed contacts via the website were secure, but shall change my email availability. Thanks.

Just looked at my profile and am unsure of how to remove email availability without removing it from account.

You don't need to change the email associated with this site, though you need to ensure you have a strong password not used elsewhere.

You need to search for your email address via the search box and see where it has been posted in threads...and then edit them out.

Also, if you purchase at least a "Basic" membership, you'd have access to Direct Messages which can only be read by yourself and any other member who has access to DMs whom you contact via that method.

$10 could protect you by allowing you to PRIVATELY message sellers/other members. You posted your email publicly and the scammer contacted you that way. You were contacted by a scammer via your email because you posted it publicly. Alliuse did nothing wrong. Please review the last few pages of the Good, Bad and Ugly subforum. Many have fallen for the scam.

Squirrely! I just attempted to upgrade. Was connected to MY WIFE's PayPal, not mine; and when in mine the 12 BRAVO LLC was listed as not receiving money??? Suggestions?

Thanks, I was able to re-enter PayPal and accomplish upgrade. I have a secure password, and searched for my email address but do not know how to edit it out of the list that comes up.
