Fred Perrin abusing a Cold Steel triad lock knife

Since the Spyderco Sage series offers the opportunity to try different locks, I do hope that they will eventually license the Triad lock for a special Sage!

I agree, if they're gonna be a series, they might as well go all out.

I think an Axis-Lock model would be cool to see and I was also dreaming of a 'traditional' lock-back and some wood handles, perhaps walnut or purple heart.

The Triad-Lock and regular lock-back would require some redesigning of the current flow-through handle design I would imagine, which is fine with me. I'm not sure if the Sage 3 has a flow-through handle or not but we'll see shortly, won't we?

If the Sage series continued on like we have exampled, it would be one of my favorite collection runs. Let's hope and continue sharing our thoughts.

Happy to see this thread revived as I missed it when first it made an appearance.

I recently purchased an American Lawman. Both the knife and Triad lock are quite impressive. I'd been looking for a Spyderco Para-Military2, but since production seems to be lagging behind demand I decided to try something a bit different. Now I see what everyone has been raving about. These are darn good knives !

I just happened across this video. It looks like Cold Steel really has a winner on their hands with this new lock design. Andrew Demko did a great job. I don't understand French, but it looks like Perrin is impressed with the Lawman. Can anyone translate?

In case you don't know, Fred Perrin is a respected knife designer

Hmm where's the video ?

I didn't catch this thread the first time around, but I believe this may be the one:

I know that the topic has been discussed to death, but I feel like the only thing keeping Cold Steel from really getting the respect they could potentially get is the use of AUS 8 (which is a perfectly fine steel for EDC use, and CS runs it well) with such a disproportionately hardcore locking mechanism. I just don't understand the point of having a lock that can take really intense use (and abuse), when the blade can't. I have a few CS knives, and like them a lot, especially the designs Demko has done, and that use the Tri-Ad lock, but it just seems silly to use a good but not amazing steel, and have a lock that could survive a head on collision with an 18-wheeler without closing.

Oh, and Fred Perrin is awesome. Much respect for his great designs. Love my La Griffe.

I really like his neck bowie

Welcome to 2015, where we got CTS XHP and DLC coating on the latest Lawman.
