I recently purchased this Spyderco Fred Perrin Bowie. I have been looking for one for awhile and finally found one for a great price. I wish I would have snagged a few while they were in production. This is one really cool blade. I love the deep choil and the control it gives you in the hand. It is extremely light and easy to carry as well. Now I just need to grab one of the Street Beat's when I get the scratch!

Here are a few pics,

I'll quite honest but I prefer Justins (Ranger Knives) designs in that size. Although, if you get your hands on a Street Beat you'll be a happy man for sure!

I too am a huge fan of Justin's smaller blades, but they are for a different purpose than the Perrin was designed for. The Perrin is much lighter than any blade I have ever handled from Ranger Knives besides maybe a Little Bird.

Nice blade I have a black fbo4 with 060v etched or lasered on it . The number is on the left hand side if you are holding it in the sabre grip. I have no idea what the number is for. The blade feels really good in the hand. The ballance point is right where your index finger gos if held in the sabre style grip. I have been looking for a satin version for quite some time They rarely come up for sale here or elsewhere. A satin version like yours with a number on the spine like yours recently sold on ebay for approximatly $150.00. I also own a street beat and let me tell you it's one fine blade. The fit and finish on it is perfect, I love the micarta handles. It also has a full tang. I hope spyderco markets another version of the street beat with the same blade profile and length as the fb04 model. I whould definitely buy more than one of those. :)

The 060v is the collector's number. The first 200(I think) are collector's pieces. The "v" is for variant(since it is a black blade). I have an F04 also, I keep it strapped to my slingbag that I carry to work everyday. I wrapped my grip in Tommy Tape so it would "fill" my hand better. The Street Beat is on my list, but I have a few other things I want first. :)

These are indeed SWEET! Allow me to beat the drum again for a 6" version with micarta scales!

Thanks for the info. I got mine for basically what they were selling for brand new at vendors. Good stuff! I really want a Street Beat, those look like alot of fun!

Nice Pic! I also have that knife. My only complaint -- the sheath. I got a custom sheath from On-scene Tactical, now it is ultra secure even upside down.

lefthandblack,
would you mind sharing where you've found it?
I too missed it when it still was available and got the itch for it ever since, but never had luck in finding one.

Sure, I bought it in the Exchange off of eL_PeLaDiLLo. Great guy to deal with. They pop up sometimes over there, but you gotta be quick. Good luck!

Just an FYI to anyone looking for one. As of three days ago, the sportsman's warehouse at 84th and I-25 just north of Denver Colorado had one in their display case for $90 some dollars. About six months ago, I saw a black bladed one at the archery place just off 38th and Sheridan in Denver as well.

thanks lefthandblack, thought you would have found a shop where you got it from.
and thanks bigbcustom,I'm always on the lookout for finding a new one for a realistic price in a shop, your hints are very much appreciated.

I ordered and received one of the black blade versions. I carried it for awhile but never fully trusted it for self defense use. The blade rattled so bad in the sheath that if I tried to go any faster than a slow walk I thought a buzz worm was chasing me. The handle just didn't fit my hand in any grip style and the Kraton inserts just didn't seem to add to the grip at all. Not a bad knife, just not a good fit for me. It's been retired and occassionally see's carry duty around the house.

I've only played with one briefly , but I instantly fell in love with it . I am definitely going to have to buy or trade for one.

The Perrin Bowie is one of my all time favorite Spyderco knives. It makes an excellent general utility/kitchen knife, and is one of my favorite SD knives.

Hey Joseph, you might want to adjust your post and read up on forum rules. There is a place where registered users can post a "want to buy", but this isn't the place. ;)

I love mine, it lives in the kitchen and gets quite a workout there. If I were ever to go hunting again I'd even consider carrying it, but only if I knew far enough in advance to get a decent leather sheath made for it.

I love the knife. I think it makes a great kitchen knife / camp kitchen knife.
