Fred Perrin Bowie FB04 with pics!

Great snag on the Perrin Bowie LHB ! You need to pick up a Street Beat though. I like mine so much I bought a second one.

Fred's designs are special. His thought process is for highly functional pieces and they're generally smaller. "Skill over size" is an effective philosophy in Fred's case.

I understand his new MBC manual will be published by Palladin. A good read. His simple, but very effective approach is worth the study.

The 5" (FB04) was planned for the French Military as a basic blade. It never materialized, although the blade is an excellent "easy carry" for a 5 incher. I heard a rumor that Fred was going to begin handling a Military green version as an exclusive sometime next year.

The "Street Beat" is a top notch small fixed blade for pocket or belt carry.

I carry an FB04 whenever I'm going beltless (sweats or running shorts) and can't support the weight of a much larger blade. Most excellent execution of a great design!!! Was sorry to see this one discontinued. I still get customers looking for them.

I love Fred Perrins designs ,they are simple yet different much like you would expect from a fixed Spyderco. I like Scrapyard and Ranger knives but they are more a heavy survival knife that can be used as a self defence knife rather than a dedicated SD knife. It seems like a small difference but it makes a huge change in how heavy the knife is and how it carries and handles. A good SD fixed blade needs a really good sheath. It sounds like the knife was let down by the sheath. I would love to see the sheath Eric made for Guyincube's knife as I have been very impressed with the work he has done for me.

It is an OK sheath that works fine, but pales in comparison to many aftermarket sheaths...like the one posted in this thread. ;)

Ha! Interesting to see this thread resurrected! I recently had to sell my FB04 that was posted in this thread to pay some bills. Bummed me out. The good news is that I paid those bills and recently snagged a Street Beat for a good price that I should be receiving soon! Can't wait. I will post pics as soon as I receive it!

one of my most favorite knives ever, I will never sell my satin, that's for sure!!

You upgraded in manufactured quality...

I have now lost my Street Bowie :( , but I picked up a Street Beat in the trade. :)
The sheath rattles, so I might send it in to Spyderco.
