Hi,
Knife World accidentally sent me a duplicate order of this book. They offered me my money back or I could keep it for half price. I decided I would keep it and give it away here--after seeing this contest posted on BFC Knife World is now donating the book for the contest! The book is Military Knives, A Reference Book. It is an excellent book and just publised this year. 255 pages jammed packed of info related to one of my favorite subjects.

Here is the contest. It can't be for you.

Post here one of our forum members that could use and enjoy the book....someone who has done something that has impressed you recently. Someone that deserves this book who's values epitomizes what BladeForums.Com is all about.

We'll run the contest until this Friday and I will ask a respected BFC member who will remain anonymous to read the thread and pick the winner. I'll post the winners name here on Saturday. I will even spring for shipping.

Is this OK? We have a lot of great folks here and I thought this would be a nice way of saying thank you to someone.

Thanks for all who participate.

Sincerely,

Great idea Greg! I know lots of folks here who are worthy. I couldn't even begin to pick just one. Good luck to you all though.

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

I nominate Jim March for two reasons:

- He is always willing to impart his knowledge related to CA knife/gun laws

- He is a true patriot who has almost single handedly brought down a threat to all of our freedoms - the Million Mom March, in addition to waging a one man war against the CA CCW laws in his spare time. Read about the MMM stuff here:

Well, I come back to BFC every day not only for information about knives, but to relax, read and get some laughs, the people who take this place too serious need to get a clue. The person I'm thinking of has been the cause of more good natured fun and silliness than all the other members combined, and for me is a huge ASSet to our community. You almost never see him post anything related to knives, but he has a huge collection of knives, probably most of the knives in this book.

I hereby nominate the one the only, you know him you love him Vampire Gerbil.

I nominate Mike Cooper (L6STEEL). I am 23, graduating University and I am a newbie knife maker (I have made 4 knives.) Mike recently sent me a care package of "stuff he had laying around the shop." That stuff cluttering Mike's shop has set me up for soe great knives to be made here in the summer. He is extremely generous and great to chat with. I know he would enjoy the book.

"Come What May..."

I nominate Bugs3x(think that's right). For reasons that I won't mention(that's his place), he is confined to the home quite a bit. And since he is also fairly new here, this would: a)occupy some time b)increase his knife knowledge.
Greg, this is a very nice thing you're doing here. But then again, knowing you, it's no surprise your first instinct was to help someone else!

Dave

i second the nomination for L6STEEL.mike is a great guy,and has done me a big favor recently.hes great to talk with, too.

does it have to be just one person?

So many good ones to choose from. But as you said, only pick one.

My choice: NCBlades.

How about colobbfan? I've never personally dealt with him but he appears to be highly thought of by other members of the forum and it sounds like he could use a little pick-me-up about now.

Nice one Greg!

I'd give the nod to StJames and I would also submit that the way this should be selected, to be as fair as possible, is to take ALL the Posts, save the first one of course

and to cut them up, place them in a box and have your son draw a winner out?

Either way someone will be fortunate to call you friend!

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious……

(AKA Mr. Gary Graley)

If you know him.......I need not explain!!!

I too would like to nominate L6Steel, an all-around good guy. I met Michael through this forum. I emailed him (once I found out he lived close to me), and he invited me to hang out in his shop on a number of occasions (he even let me ruin one of his blanks once). He is truly one of the nicest guys I've met. I know he would like to get this book.

I have second the Undead Rodent, He keeps me in stitches. Besides anyone who puts a bayonet on an Uzi NEEDS a book on military knives.

------------------
A Pat on the Back is only a few inches from a Kick in the Butt.

I nominate Don Rearic--the guy is a literal FONT of knowledge, only too willing to help those of us who have strayed from the path of common sense, as well as those (temporarily, I hope) ignorant of the subject matter. Above & beyond that, he's contributed some really cool designs for toys.

If he has this book already, then I second Jim March's nomination for the same reasons RH gave.

I nominate Taz, he needs all the help he can get!

Its very hard to pick just one. But, since thats how this works, I will toss my vote in for Mike (L6steel). He is one of the most generous guys on here. He has held fund raisers for folks in need. He shares knowledge to anybody who asks, and even as great of a maker as he is, he is still very humble.

Mike L6 Cooper is a great guy, but a bad choice in this case. He doesn't collect knives, never showed any interest in Military type knives, and now he's making folders.
But if Greg was giving away a "Best of Battle Bots" video Mike would have my full support.

Battle Bots Rule!!! Hey Mike, umm, wouldn't you be proud to see the Blade Forums Battle Bot win the championship in Vegas? I have some good ideas for a steel eatin robot if ya decide to sponsor one!

Thanks for all the kind words guys but someone that would cherish this book should get it.
