I know, I know. You guys are getting sick of all the giveaways and all the free stuff ;)

Truth be told, I've wanted to do a giveaway for a while but I haven't had anything really worth while to giveaway. From my short time on BF I have racked up a little over 3,000 posts and a good majority of them coming from here, the Busse forum (and a good portion of those coming from the old FOLDER death chant ;) ). So if you weren't one of the 5 who scored a free SYCKO last night, then here's another chance for you to try.

By joining this little community, I've done things for knives I never thought I'd do; like go to the most awesome gun show in the world: Knob Creek, drive 500 miles to Atlanta (one way), wait 3 hours in line to be one of the first at the table, build a beer helmet out of beer cans that looked like a Hog and get my fingers cut 50 times in the process, and even throw an elbow every now and then just for the opportunity to spend several hundred dollars on a knife and be one of the first to have it :D

But by also joining this little community I've also met a lot of great people who will do kind and honorable favors for people who they've never met before or who live halfway across the world all out of the shared appreciation of a fine knife company. And not many people meet the people behind their favorite knives, but it's special when you've met them, they know your name, and you get drunk with them and end up throwing glow rings at beer cans, people, and street lamps. So I do feel privileged in meeting Jerry, Amy, Eric, Josh, Beef, Lexi, Mongo, Dan, and the former chef now newsletter editor, Pokey.

So, this is my first (and not last) giveaway to show my, appreciation, of, well, you people ;)

Now, after all the yapping, it's time to for the goodies.

I have a Scrap Yard Scrapivor with a Mashed Cat kydex sheath (fresh from the 1500) up for grabs as the main prize.

And, there are many firearm lovers on this forum as well, so I figured I'd throw this into the giveaway as a secondary prize.

A brand new, never worn, Weatherby hat.

I've been thinking about the terms of the giveaway and can't come up with any original ideas, so to enter just post why you like being here, the Busse forum, and what you've received (knowledge, friends, etc.) from being here. I'll let this run for a few days and use your post number as an entry number then use a random number generator to pop out a number for the winners.

I've entered several giveaways and have won twice (thank you again On The Edge and drbarnes ) and I beleive it's time for me to give back. EVERYONE is valid to enter, from piglets to uber Hogs, people with no Busse or kin to people who have so many they've forgotten what all the exactly have.

I know people have preferences on firearms (like knives) so if you're a Weatherby fan, please somewhere in your post say so. EVERYONE wants a free knife, but not everyone is a Weatherby fan so I'd like this to go to someone who'll wear it when shooting their Athena :D ;)

As for posting pictures, it's not required but it wont hurt anything either, but I love trench knives so if you have one or have an old picture of one, I'd love to see it :D

Way to go HOG.

Up here my Weatherby Stainless Synthetic .340 Weatherby Mag is just the ticket for the big stuff you might see while on a walk about.

I came here looking for the Best Knife for the great outdoors and found the extended family I never knew I had.

I've even done a few passarounds to show my appreciation to the great folks here and to pass along a little of the wisdom I've managed to gather from the old time HOG's

VERY nice of you to do that!!!;):thumbup:

Although I got started with Bussekin products, etc. via the Swamp, I found my home at Scrap Yard. I never visited Bladeforums much; just stayed mainly at the Yard. But in 2007 I went to my first Blade show, where I was treated unbelievably nice by the Busses and crew. I was made to feel very welcome, and I got to meet Jerry's and Dan's families, including their Mom...Mrs.B. I was so overwelmed by their kindness that I decided to become even more involved on their forums. Along the way I have met many terrific folks at Blade and on the forums. Now, I often bounce between all three forums while posting and waiting for responses. I thank the Busses for being such wonderful folks and providing us with these forums!!! ;):thumbup:

yo, the reason i like being here is for the great camaraderie amongst the true hogs and I am very proud to be associated with the Busse Combat crowd, as far as
Weatherby, I do not have one but I am very fond of the workmanship that goes into each firearm they produce and especially the older ones that have the great
wood grains and the chin rest that is always present on their rifles.

thanks for the opportunity and the great GAW.

Man I have only been a member of this forum for a short time and have seen more giveaways than I have seen all year. Lol

Can't wait till I get to a thousand posts to do a giveaway of my own.

Well I came here looking for a knife to take to Afghanistan with me. I knew Busse and INFI by reputation only. Just so happened that I missed out on the War Dog release by a couple weeks, but it looked like exactly what I needed.

As for the forum and what I've gotten out of it, I got majorly hooked up by a Hog and got to buy a War Dog without paying out the nose.

When the Alaska trunk show rolled around I got to meet 6 forum members who live up here and got to handle close to 50 Busse and kin knives. I missed out on going to the show thanks to some training, and once again a major Hog stepped up and helped me acquire the last knife I wanted for deployment.

Still waiting to finalize the second deal, but here is a shot of my Dog.

I've been part of many forums, but none of them hold a candle to the Busse & Kin forums.
My first post was on the Scrap Yard forum, and I was amazed by how welcome I felt after my first post. The same goes for this subforum & all the other Busse Kin forums.

It all started when I was browsing for a fixed blade and came upon the Yard. I scrolled down the list of knives and then I saw it... The dogfather!!!! I think I had to buy a new keyboard after that from all the drool. When I realized I couldn't buy one, I signed up to the forum and did my research on the Busse Knife group. That's what led me here and to the exchange.

Most people here and at the other forums were so welcoming when I first joined. Since then, I have asked a lot of newbish questions, and instead of getting screamed at for asking a question that's already been answered, many people offered their advice and opinions. I'm still kind of a newb, but am starting to learn a lot about Busse & kin, and am trying to repay the favor, by answering questions from new Busse fanatics.

Over the last few months, I have made many friends on this forum. I've never found a place where people are so nice & willing to go above and beyond to help out a fellow knife fanatic. People I've never met in my life have proxied for me, sold me blades at great prices, and helped me when I needed help.

I've also been astounded by the appreciation for customers the Busse Knife Group has. So many giveaways, excellent customer service, very sweet and helpful ladies to answer the phone and emails, the most unbelievable warranty... I could go on and on.

That's it for now, but I can write an essay about this topic, so more to
Come later.

Thanks for the giveaway M67!

That's a mighty kind thing to do, man. Thank you sincerely for the chance.

I like this forum for the wealth of knowledge and also because of the whiskey drinking, steel appreciating, no regrets spirit that runs deep in the folks that post here. I've learned quite a bit, and have gained a blade or two that I feel good about using and abusing with the confidence that it will take whatever I can dish out and then some. After just recently partaking in my first ganza, I can now see what you guys are always oinking about. There's fun to be had in here!

As for Weatherby, I'm afraid that I'm only familiar with Glock, Remington and Ruger, so the cap would be better sent elsewhere.

I don't have a trench knife, but here's a cool image from the Springfield Armory Museum (link below)

When I tell people about my custom orders from busse and the years (half decade) of waiting and shenanigans, the reaction is often 'why would you keep doing bussiness with them? if they never answer their emails, lose order details, take forever etc etc, why?'

Because Busse combat is awesome, that's why. I am far from rich, and haven't gotten above the poverty line in earnings in the last 3 years, so the knives I get and have now mean a lot. I had money a long time ago and have been using an initial investment to trade in and out of other models, and at this point it's my only leverage since there are no funds to add at all, not even imaginary ones. I've received a total of 1,200$ worth of free knives, credits and knife upgrades from Busse combat over the last 8 years. Thats a lot of free gear and money to sling at your customers, and I'm one among many. When I've called the crew has always been nice, though my orders have been a little mixed up Garth and Jerry worked with me and the order to bring it to a point where I was completely satisfied, and every complaint I've had has been backed by good experiences that cancelled them out and then some.

This forum is one of the more active ones on bladeforums and includes a lot of awesome people. I enjoy being around people who simply enjoy the knives for enjoyment sake, and love reading in depth reviews like PeterPHWS's. I enjoy the knives, the photo's and the company.

Thanks for the chance. I haven't been here long, but the reason I have stayed is because it doesn't matter if you own a $200 busse or a $1000 busse, everyone is treated like a part of the damily

Thanks for the chance.
I have only been here around a couple of years now,but I have sold off most of my knives that I had when I first arrived.
The majority of my fixed blades now are Bussekin and I love 'em.

What a great offer!

I am here as a busse newb, trying to figure out which one I want first and why. The addiction is seeping into me!

I'm in!
I've learned that INFI is a great steel with a lot of nice and generous people supporting it.

Thanks for the chance.

I thank you for the giveaway ,I have two scrapivores but I would love a chance at the hat .I don`t own a Weatherby but I will someday. I just want to say thank you to all the Hogs and others who make me want to stick around and learn from you. I have gone from wanting a Busse to having 3 and 6 kin and I don`t see it stopping anytime soon. Thanks to you all for keeping me informed and entertained ,I have learned a ton from the older Hogs about knives and how to act on an internet forum.

I happened by looking for some reviews about ESEE knives and read some thread about ESEE VS. BUSEE. That got me looking for the videos by NOSS (the guy who destroys all those knives) and I was hooked. I also really dig the ganzza concept. Those fake posts really had me laughing. I never thought there were so many people with my sense of humor that also loved knives as much as I do. I also learned alot about the different qualities of steels and heat treatments. I look forward to the next ganzza and hope those rascals are playing their tricks on the new victims uh, members.

I prefer the knife if I win.

Thanks for the chance.

Im here to try and learn bussespeak.

I think i've figured out what a NMFBM stands for but i cant be sure. I don't know why any body would use Bowel Movement as part of the name of a knife.

Im not fluent yet but i'm getting there.
