French Police Dog training.

great videos!

Would love to have an AmerBulldog....and/or a Dogo...

My understanding is that they (APBT) are better Rescue than PPD...but are also naturally defensive for the family. Which is what I want...don't need her to attack...just defend house/home. And yes, she is quite friendly to people....don't want that to change. So...might be asking too much...or for the impossible....dunno.

I just want to take her training to a higher level...and I'm not interested in agility training.

I also want to use her to hunt....

I am asking a lot...I know. :D

Daniel,

Thanks for the positive reply.

If you want to have your dog evl'ed, let me know where you live and I can likely recomend someone worth their salt near you whom can take a look at the dog's drives and abilities and go from there.

Zero is a slap-happy fool to everyone unless I or the wife are dealt violent physical contact, or he's told to engage... Otherwise, he loves everyone and if allowed, will crawl up on your lap and beat everything off the coffeee table with his tail... Loves kids... Meets strangers walking down the street with a wagging tail...

A PP dog is of no effect if it cannot live with you. your surroundings and has to be left home when you're out, or locked up when people come over. Just as the best knife is the one in your hands, the best dog is the one that is at your side.

Bandogge, beautiful dog you have there. Do you know John Tuuri by any chance? He trains with Leri Hansen sometimes here in Cali.

BTW, I was over at another friends house last night, and here come two big ABs blasting in front of my car. I stopped and whistled and one came over to see me. Turns out they belong to some wacko tweeker that lives next to my friend, and they are always out running the neighborhood. They seemed good natured, but they could have hurt some of the little kids that were outside just from being over exuberant and wanting to play. We all know what would be in the news then. It is people like this that make it tough on all of us that have bull breeds.:grumpy:

Yes....sad indeed. :(

My neighbors down the street are such owners...let their dogs out the front door to run willy-nilly where e'er they please...quite irritating...making my job harder (teaching my dog to be well-behaved).

The other day, one of their dogs was laying out in the middle of the road...on a tether....I had some bad thoughts run through my mind....:o...:foot:

Bandogge - like what you're saying. I'd love to be able to have a high level of control over Jessie. Such that...she would "posture/protect" on command...and also "back down" on command.

She might not be quite ready yet....I do have her trained fairly well...but only 11 mos old and still in transition.

stevo - thanks for the PM. FWIW, I live in Bentonville, Arkansas (Northwest part of the state). Would love to meet up with a trainer/evaluator...someone who could provide a good assessment overall.

Jessie has tremendous prey drive and responds well to "treat-training". She also has high-intensity and determination. Not shy....not overly aggressive. Somewhat dominant. So, from what I've read...seems she's got a few of the "good things" for a good foundation.

stevomiller,

LOL... Yup, I know John. We're in different parts of the world (He's in Sth? Cal. and I'm in QC, Canada.), but we've talked on and off for many years.

He's a great guy with some very nice working APBT's and he's done some great things with them as far as titling.

Here's my other present dog, for anybody interested... She's a CO (Caucasian Ovcharka) Female, just over a year old. Not a great pet, not a great sports dog, but a superior house guardian and a wonderful family member.

And a video of me working her Uncle. This is a green adult dog whom had never been worked before that day, and had never seen a decoy/ bite equip. in his life. A dog of any breed that comes to the work so naturally is very, very rare.

No equipment fixation, no un-due stress, no prey lock, Just a dog that rids a threat and moves on.

CO Nurem

Daniel... Will ask 'round and hopefully can locate a good dog man to send you to in your area.

Bandogge, another beauty! I love her full black face.
John and I worked together years ago at a bike shop. I think he brought his Toby in the first day that he got him. That dog was just too cool from day one! What's the breeding of your AB? I am hoping to get one in a few years when one of my older dogs passes, and have been doing some looking around. Boyd's new kennel is literally like a mile down the road from my folks house, although I haven't visited him yet.

Cheers Bandogge!

That Ovarcchaka looks good, reminds me of a long coat Karabash or similar? Working temprement to.

A friend of mine had his Staff & an American pit cross Doberman stolen in a burgaly by a local small time dog fighting ring years ago after he refused to sell the cross.

He got the cross back but it had burns on its nose so it had probably taught someone a lesson once it decided it was time to go home. {It was reported as an out of control dog when the thief was trying to re catch in a street a week later.}

The cross later died defending the owners wife. But if anyone just talked friendly to it he was there friend, always looking for a walk.;) The staffs were to.

Daniel,

Jon N. of FalaWood K9 has agreed to eval your dog for PP at no charge.

However, they are located in Robinson, IL, which I believe may be about four hours from your door.

Here is a link to his website, with all his contact info.

Falawoods K9

Just tell him Phil from Quebec sent 'ya.

stevomiller,

Zero is from Contender's Brutus out of Contender's Squaw. He is a linebred dog to Leclerc's Bama Boy through Fujimo Bandit and Fujimo Max.

Thanks for the info Bandogge. Also, that is great that your friend will do an eval on Dan's dog.

Daniel, my friend John told me to pass his contact info to you as well. Another PM is on the way. Looks like you're on the right path now:)
