Friction Forged test blade

Assuming you have the time and inclination to personally evaluate the properties of the products you buy then of course you do so. This does not matter if it is knives or cars or pens. Of course it is easier on the cheaper products.

Interesting thread. I am curious as to which heat treat is used when comparing high vanadium or cobalt vanadium steels blades such as 9v, 10v, S30, vg-10, n690, that most often require a vacuum forge to get a proper heat treat when you perform the comparisons to the FF D2. I don't expect the blades to make it to 70rc or glass hard but my m42 steel blade prototypes got much better results when i sent them to a vacuum forge for heat treat.
