Hi all,

Hope you all are doing great today.

I decided to have breakfast this cool crisp ( 8 Degrees ) Friday Dec. morning
at my campsite. I asked Kathy if she wanted to go and she looked out the window and was listening to the weather man this morning and said NOPE lol see ya when you get back. So it was kelly girl and me.

I took this first pic as I was leaving the house. In this pic you are looking south.

I walked down and through that field toward the south to all them trees you see in the back ground.

In this pic I walked on a few feet and took this self portrait lol.

Once I got down to them trees. I walked in a about 150 feet or so and then took this pic of the creek that is near my campsite area.

Then I walked on another 30 feet or so and took this pic of my cold campsite.

I hate cold camps lol.

At this campsite I keep wood on hand that is all cut up ( thanks to my handsaw) and then I, even have good supply of split wood ( thanks to my axe) and then I have a bunch of fuzzsticks all carved up( thanks to my knives) that I keep in a Christmas cooky tin minus the cookies lol. as you can see in this pic.

Once in camp it does not take but a few minutes to grab 3 spilt sticks and lay then up against a rock I have in the fire pit.

Then set some fuzz sticks down on them.

Pile on some other split sticks and then some small branches in a wigwam look.

IMG_0475.jpg

Then take some cotton and pj mix and wrap it around the end of a stick and with a small knife and firesteel stike it and then light that cotton on fire and then light my fire.

Very nice!  Makes me wish I was out in the woods right now instead of at work! I might just have to do something like this tomorrow, since it's going to be nice and cool out.

Looks like a great start to the weekend. Only hope I can make some time for the outdoors this weekend. You have inspired me!!

Looks like a good time! Better than the granola I had for breakfast. Knife porn too, I thank you.

Bryan,
I do believe you've got the life, I can smell that bacon from here. Lots of envy here bro.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind comments on my Friday morning breakfast at my campsite. I was chatting with a fellow yesterday from Canada.
Grizzly Dave is his name, well he was telling me, that he was glad that that there are others out there that will leave a nice warm house to go out in the cold and to sit by a campfire lol.
some people think that stuff is crazy. I told Dave I think that those who do not do that are crazy lol. Dave got a chuckle out of that.
Dave was telling me when he was younger he would have his pack all ready and then put his food that he wanted to take with him for that morning and slip out of the house and then head to his camping spot he had in the woods and marsh near his house near Windsor just to cook his own break fast and then head back home around noon to make it just in time to have lunch that his mom was making lol. It just feels right to go and do that. Well it does to me anyways lol.

IUKE12 and loosearrow, mentiond the being able to smell the bacon lol. I tell ya I started te bacon first because I wanted to have some bacon grease to cook the bannock with. Well after about 10 or so seconds from putting that bacon in the pan and then the aroama from it and the combined walnut wood smoke was like oh man. I just about could not stand it lol. Cooking is fun, but I hate the waiting before I can start eating lol.

Thanks again guys

I hope you all get to head out into the woods somewhere this weekend.

Yeah, still can smell the bacon. Your place sure looks alot like Kansas around here. I like taking those woods walks with my grandson and make a little fire and cook some food up. We will be doing more of that this winter. Too bad they are off in the summer with all the bugs. The fall and winter is the best. Is that a small coffee pot or just a larger boiler pot for making your coffee?

good times.

the mountains east of here are yelling at me to come out and fool around for a day or two.

Awesome Bryan, very cool camp setup.

Care to share your bannock recipe? Looks like you've got some extra stuff mixed in there, raisins and something else perhaps? Breakfast of champions is appears.

If we can shift from wet, November-ish weather to real winter around here, I'd love to do some of that myself. That looks like great, simple fun!

Were like a bunch of little boys. Everyone having camp sites in the woods. Heap big fun , aint it?:)
