Still waiting on a local machine shop to return a simple 1 hour job for me. It's been 9 work days:rolleyes:.

Fired up the welding forge last night and tried an experiment on a tomahawk head. Probably spend most of the w/e working a few of them.

What ya'll doin?

Cleaning the house... I let it get so bad I think I need an updated tetanus shot!

i'm hoping to get the blade i started to grind yesterday finished up today. mark, have you done anything with that piece of 1075 i sent you? make sure you send me picks when you do.

Not yet Richard.

Might just forge the whole hunk into a BIG chopper. :)

Friday is lookin up. The machine shop just called.

Deer hunt this morning, and tommorrow morning then install a new window for browney points and then back to deer hunting . Paul

Been AWOL in the knife community for some time due to my personal life getting super crazy....just getting settled back in. I got engaged and have an engagement party tomorrow night and hope to get some shop time in sometime in the next few weeks.

David lives!

I'm driving a few hours to northern NH tonight to pick up a treadle hammer for my shop, and hope to use it to knock down some large O1 stock i've got laying around this weekend and work on a few blades, havent got any bladework of any sort done in a month or more now, all my shop time has gone to other smithing / re-organizing / cleaning.

hope to get at least one of my damascus billets finished ready for turning into a blade, gotta finish a handout for the forging class I taught last weekend (5 new bladesmiths with blades in hand ready for grinding/HT/finishing Mace and Aldo that 1 inch 1084 is great stuff for teaching with!) I told them I would have a handout with finishing/HT directions up on my website by Nov1, I'm such a slacker!
Hopefully I get a chance to work on rebuilding what's left of my shed so I can forge at home during the winter!

Good to hear you're still alive! I'm hoping that your 'busy life' has nothing to do with the issues that came with your new house...

Congrats on getting engaged, too!

Forging a frontier lamp with a burl base for my office. Changing the oil and flushing the cooling system on the truck.

Flying back from Scottsdale today, meeting my new niece Saturday when my sister passes through town, and then flying back to Scottsdale Sunday! Whee!

Taking my wife to the airport early on Saturday morning. She is heading back to Massillon, Ohio to do some maintenance work on our rental houses and to visit my side of the family. I'm jealous, since I'm not going.

After I take her to the airport, I'll go out for breakfast and read the paper, until it warms up a little bit. After which I'll go to two of her real estate listings and mow and trim the lawns for her. My wife is in real estate here in the Portland, Oregon area.

I'll probably forge the bar of Damascus that deker sent me on Sunday for the newbie collaboration. I'm the forger for the hunter in the set. I will need to find a friend to come over and take pictures though. I was going to have my wife take photos, but she won't be here, as you can see above.

I'll also squeeze in some grinding on some blades that I have already forged.

Hopefully buying some wood this afternoon at a woodworkers show, then celebrating me turning 30 with a few friends (hopefully a few show up!). Then tomorrow my brother and I are Forrest Gump and Lieutenant Dan at a house party as I am wheelchar bound this year and big fans of the movie.

Shoeing a few horses today, road trip , will be about 4 hours of windshield time. Saturday will be fun, will set up for shoeing at a local fairgrounds, a few kids hang around sometime, one is finishing up a 5160 hunter, he is a very patient kid, spends hours with a file. So I toss a Delta 1X42 in the truck, he thinks he is 'King' now! . Have a couple others that are real regulars, they were tired of pounding out hoof-picks from old horseshoes. Good pounders, so they drew up plans for a hunter and have the blank taking shape from a half-coil off a 7/8" truck spring (5160, gets 100 cuts on 3/4" manila rope, so fair steel)

Haha nope my "busy life" didnt have anything to do with that stuff...thankfully! Its mainly my job has become more demanding and had some family issues that pulled me away.

Thanks on the engagement! My groomsmen dont know it now, but they are all getting small custom pocket fixed blades as gifts with the wedding date etched into the spine. I have a full year to complete them, so lets hope i get more time in the shop than ive had lately!

I just found a local source for Magentite ore!

making knives :)

Got a few profiles to get cut and ground, not firing the forge today. I'm due to get 2 kitchen knives for family christmas presents and one for the gift exchange.

finishing up one of the sierra hikers, this one is going to be pretty. hoping a few non-orders sell soon, and ordering sanding belts.

I *might* start on the no weld 2x72 grinder parts collecting today, but that depends on how fast the rest goes.

I just got a new recurve, (just started shooting; I love it!) so I'll be spending the weekend with my fingers raw, my left arm bruised, and hunting for feathers in the leaves down range of my target. :D
