"He wants to keep it under his pillow".....?
I suggest he move to a better neighborhood.

That or stop pissing people off.
His neighborhood used to be good, but I agree he should move (I would too if I lived there) based on current situation.

And moving is not an easy thing to do, sadly

If he wants a knife get the one that he likes the looks of best. For nighttime SD a clip point penetrates better against soft targets, while tanto point is sturdier but that doesn't matter unless the opponent is armored. However for sleepy self defense he is more likely to hurt himself using a knife than he would be using a hammer.

True, he opted for tactical flashlight at the end, as it's more likely to confuse and surprise potential attacker. Imagine sudden bright light, and then that same light starts moving and hitting you LMAO....

Knife will be near bed within reach though, I got him in touch with E EatingSarma so they combined the money and ordered both, the clip point and tanto point and got free shippipng LOL.
Then they'll make a decision which one is going to take which knife :D

Update, he got a full size Ka-Bar 1211 few days ago as they'll wait these shorties for about a month.

So at the end he spent way more than he planned lol...

Lol! Tell your friend he just went down the rabbit hole of knives and he will likely be getting more of them. ;) How about a tomahawk next to the bed.

He most likely won't have to ever use it, but if he does - he'll be using it in self defense.
Pepper spray and the kabar with the blade geometry he likes best, but mostly for the added feeling of safety, hopefully not for real home intrusion defence. If it comes to that a high grade pepper spray or whatever is legal where he lives should be preferable, as it is probably more effective if he is not trained in knife combat, and it minimises legal difficulties usually following the act of stabbing someone 👍

Everything but a firearm is legal, so, pepper spray and kabar would be a good combo indeed.

I believe so. Otherwise your friend should take some knife combat lessons by someone like this commando grandpa

“Put the knife in by the jugular vein, push it through, punch it forward. Bit of a messy job, but that’s it”
🥴

Nah, I would go with the pepper spray thank you 😊

I didn’t think anyone was going to be stabbing bad guys, so I thought his friend might as well have gone with IMO the most useful KaBar, with a that 5” blade design, a classic leather handle, and leather sheath.

I think I'll actually buy that Ka-Bar off him as he is offering it for 70€...
Brand new, he didn't use it to save the edge as he has no sharpening equipment.

He ordered Cold Steel AK47 field knife and diamond sharpener, so he wants to get back some money he spent on Ka-Bar. In my opinion - he doesn't need that and that's crazy. But he wants full tang 3V blade as he googled it to be toughest steel.

I'll be proud to own a Ka-Bar tho. And I'll just keep it as something that is a piece of history.
