His neighborhood used to be good, but I agree he should move (I would too if I lived there) based on current situation."He wants to keep it under his pillow".....?
I suggest he move to a better neighborhood.
That or stop pissing people off.
True, he opted for tactical flashlight at the end, as it's more likely to confuse and surprise potential attacker. Imagine sudden bright light, and then that same light starts moving and hitting you LMAO....If he wants a knife get the one that he likes the looks of best. For nighttime SD a clip point penetrates better against soft targets, while tanto point is sturdier but that doesn't matter unless the opponent is armored. However for sleepy self defense he is more likely to hurt himself using a knife than he would be using a hammer.
“Grab your opponent and stick, stick, stick”Let's hope the new knives arrive with instructions on how to use them for defensive purposes.
Lol! Tell your friend he just went down the rabbit hole of knives and he will likely be getting more of them.Update, he got a full size Ka-Bar 1211 few days ago as they'll wait these shorties for about a month.
So at the end he spent way more than he planned lol...
This proved to be oddly correct, as he's now eyeing super steels and tangs... he's currently trying to sell his Ka-Bar to E EatingSarma so he can buy CS AK-47 field knife...Lol! Tell your friend he just went down the rabbit hole of knives and he will likely be getting more of them. How about a tomahawk next to the bed.

Pepper spray and the kabar with the blade geometry he likes best, but mostly for the added feeling of safety, hopefully not for real home intrusion defence. If it comes to that a high grade pepper spray or whatever is legal where he lives should be preferable, as it is probably more effective if he is not trained in knife combat, and it minimises legal difficulties usually following the act of stabbing someoneHe most likely won't have to ever use it, but if he does - he'll be using it in self defense.
Everything but a firearm is legal, so, pepper spray and kabar would be a good combo indeed.Pepper spray and the kabar with the blade geometry he likes best, but mostly for the added feeling of safety, hopefully not for real home intrusion defence. I believe so. Otherwise your friend should take some knife combat lessons by someone like this commando grandpaEverything but a firearm is legal, so, pepper spray and kabar would be a good combo indeed.
I didn’t think anyone was going to be stabbing bad guys, so I thought his friend might as well have gone with IMO the most useful KaBar, with a that 5” blade design, a classic leather handle, and leather sheath.

I use mine in the kitchen a lot. Definitely one of my favorite fixed blades. That full flat grind too.
