Friendly folder for VERY liberal academic office?

If that knife is called "the Horrid Reaper, "or something like that then it does look ti be the sort of this you need.

Don't get any quick draw things hung on your b belt or visible on your pocket. No flippers or assisted openers. People get very anxious, especially if you have lots of facial scars and neck tattoos.
I have my wife a tiny , ie 1-1/2 inch neck knife. She works in a very conservative company.
She used the itsy bitsy little knife to open a letter, and all (including military veterans) freaked out about it.
One never knows, do one?

I carry a knife everywhere I go, and rarely does anyone even comment on it. I think the liberal card is overplayed. Like someone said earlier in the thread, it's much more about how the knife owner carries himself than about the knife itself. A pocket knife is nowhere near as threatening as an AR at Burger King. Leave the long guns at home and you should be fine.

As far as a knife suggestion is concerned, I myself am looking at a Spyderco Air Gayle Bradley (although I am talking myself into a small Sebenza). Classy and understated is the order of the day.

'Friendly folder for VERY liberal academic office?'

Doesn't exist. But, seriously, try either a Vic Classic and other models along that size; Minichamp is one. Others may be the Vic Executive, Vic Tourist, Cadet. All are lower cost, smaller knives that won't hurt if the knife is ever taken away or reported by the over zealous or sheepish. Hope this helps.

SAK. And possibly only a SD Classic key ring model.

My condolences on having to work amongst anti-knife sheeple. For your own sake, NEVER underestimate the combined and self-perpetuating irrationality, ignorance, hysteria, and vindictiveness of someone seeking a pretext to claim Victimhood (and lawyer up to sue for emotional/psychological damages in all directions, including yourself).

Ask yourself how important or necessary is it, really, to have a knife at work?

I hate pointing all this out, but this is what our once proud nation is being reduced to by eager Professional Victims , their ambulance-chasing lawyers, and frightened HR departments who are hostages to both.

Look into an Mnandi as opposed to the sebenza, the blades almost as long in cutting edge length, and it'll get any task in that environment done for sure... and may be a little more "acceptable" in that environment

I would just go with a victorinox pocket pal, its got 2 blades and is super slim and non threatening whatsoever, but in a very liberal academic office they wont be rational about much of anything, even a small sak. Then you can carry your big 'ol super murderous tactievil titanium framelock of choice in your waistband and they'll never know:D

I'd say a small Victorinox SAK, maybe with silver or blue (more soothing than red or black) scales, a small 2 blade GEC or Case slipjoint folder, or one of the small, nail nicked Al Mar front lock folders, like the Osprey, with bolsters and micarta or pearl scales.

If your colleagues gripe about it, show up the next day with a nice 15" Himalayan Imports WWII khukuri on your belt. :)
