FRN Dragonfly research - need input

I agree with the linerless crowd, a knife this size has no need of liners, FRN is strong to begin with and saves on weight/cost. I'd love to see 1 piece bi-directional FRN with a screw pivot. I also like the wire clip and removed swedge ideas. on a side note, I've been hoping we'd see something offered in H1 with a full flat grind. That and a bright orange handle offering would really put it over the edge for me.

I could go either way. Preference would be for 2-piece with liners, but that would bump up the cost and up the weight slightly. A 1-piece would be ideal in H1--this size knife would easily find its way into close body carry where corrosion is a factor.

Not on the table but my ideal would be a framelock version like the Cricket/Spin. I always have trouble ordering from the menu. :)

Linerless one piece would be fine by me. It would offer a legit alternative to the G10 w/liners version, whereas a two piece FRN with liners might be a little too close to it.

Mr. Glesser,

I like your knives with adjustable pivot screws and no steel liners.
I carry a Endura Gen 1 and a Gen 1 Delica and love them both.

Sincerely,
Sean

In a knife of that size I don't think you'd need liners. My old Endura went though some rough times in my pocket and it's still solid. So if the Endura doesn't really need liners, the Dragonfly sure doesn't.

I'll certainly be getting one. And on a knife this small, I won't even complain about the deep carry pocket clip!

This is kind of off topic, but I have to ask while I'm here. Has there ever been talk of a Dragonfly with the SS Cricket style framelock? Next to the Paramilitary (which after three weeks of daily carry I'm now completely in love with) the Cricket is my favorite Spyderco because of how thin it is. I'd love to see a thin, framelock Dragonfly.

The Dragonfly is one of my favorite designs and I never leave home without mine.

I vote FRN handle, no liners, no screws, VG-10 steel, with a deep wire clip.

In my opinion, having the option of a deep wire clip that can be removed or switched for left handed carry would make the design perfect.

I vote for linerless one piece construction, with a screw pivot for easier cleaning and the di-directional texturing. The fish scale texture looks nice, but I dont think it prodives the same amount of grip as the bi-directional. I have fairly large hands and when I use a smaller knife I really appreciate more grip, since it doesn't fill my hand as well.

Thanks for asking Sal!

I also vote one piece construction with a screw pivot

linerless would be fine, but if the clip is attatched with screws, wouldn't you need some type of liner? Maybe a good compromise would be to have the liner be as minimal as possible.

One piece pinned with a wire clip would be perfect on that knife. The only thing I didn't like about my FRN Dragonfly was the molded clip, switching that to a wire clip would make the knife just great. A knife that size certainly has no need for liners, and I've never had an issue with my Spyderco pinned models. A ZDP Sprint run wouldn't hurt, either!

My main issues with the dragonfly are the molded clip (yay deep carry wire clip!) and the pinned pivot. I don't really mind the rest of the knife being pinned, but I truly prefer the ability to adjust the pivot. As far as everything else goes, I don't really have much preference for either side - I'll be happy as a clam with the wire clip and screw pivot :D

Edit: And jimping!

one more vote for a one-piece, linerless, FRN handle with a screw pivot and a removeable, wire clip.

One piece FRN with a pivot screw. I might have to pick one of these babies up, when they're released, now that they have a better clip.

Is there going to be gimping on these newer Dragonfly models?

my vote is for one piece FRN. keep the FRN as light as possible. wire clip is ok. I carry my Dragonfly with the Clip grounded off anyway.

The G-10 version can have liners and screws.
