What is your favorite Chinese-made knife, and why?

Please, if you are opposed to Chinese-made knives, don't bother replying. I don't want this thread to get locked down or moved due to political catfights.

My favorite is the Buck Northshore. Benchmade, Boker, and Spyderco have made nice offshore-manufactured blades but the Northshore is something else. It's hard to explain in words, but it's basically a "non-overbuilt" version of the TNT with a cool Art Deco design and is deceptively inexpensive for the level of artistic quality and utilitarian value you get.

The photo is courtesy of Buck Knives.

So... now it's your turn!

of the chinese made knives i have i think the kershaw scamp is well put together. has a good feel to it.

my bladetech folding ulu is the only chinese knife I have that gets any use. It works great for food prep and such. It rusts a lot easier than other knives I have dealt with though.

That Northshore is a great knife.I thought mine was stamped Taiwan.I dont have it any longer so i cant check.Buck made real nice traditional folders there in China.I think they took so much heat for it,they've stopped.

From mainland china? How bout the Tenacious. Taiwan? Just got new gen cs recon 1 I'm really liking

The Spyderco Tenacious is a great knife. Not a great 'Chinese made' knife, but a great knife. I've also been impressed with several of Kershaw's Chinese offerings (Chill, OD2)... and the more I carry the 8Cr13MoV the more I am losing my prejudice against it... It has performed very well in my experience.

Benchmade Vex Tanto. Excellent blade design and just an all round stout folder. 8Cr14MoV and G-10 w/left or right hand tip down option. Just about perfect for around $35.00.:D:thumbup:

I bought a drop-point hunter a while back on closeout, made for Xikar and sold by AG Russell. It looks good and appears to be well made.

Boker Plus Exskelibur I. The materials are good (440C blade, G10 handle), but what really impressed me about it was the top-notch fit and finish.

(Although the Exskelibur takes top honors for me, I also have nothing but good things to say about my Byrd Meadowlark and Finch.)

Marbles Cowboy Bowie. It has a 5 1/2" carbon steel blade with a convex edge (came sharp) lacquered wooden handle and brass pins and guard. Came with a very nice tan leatherworked sheath. Cost me 25 bucks. I would've paid 50. Easily my "snazziest" knife:)
Go China. And go Marbles, for that matter.

SanRenMu 710.

Best beater knife there is.

+1, I have been using mine at work since February. It takes a shaving edge easily and holds it well. Mine is the solid black 710. The black blade coating is titanium from the seller's description, and has held up perfectly. I have purchased about a dozen Sanrenmu knives now because I have been so pleased by this one. I think they may be making some of the Chinese Bucks. No conclusive evidence, but the model 723 Sanrenmu I have is almost exactly the same knife as the Buck 327 nobleman, even the thumbstud and screws look the same.

I am also a huge fan of the spyderco tenacious and kershaw oso sweet or tone. They are awesome quality for the price.

I recently received a couple Ganzo knives, but haven't put them to much use yet. They claim to have blades made of 440c at 58-60 rc and have axis type locks. They seem very well made.

Wow, I gotta say, for the price that's a pretty slick looking knife and with 440c!

It does look well made.

The AG Russel 2010 Texas Ranger commemorative knife blew me away when I got it.The build quality and fit and finish of the knife is outstanding. It is a lockback knife with a blade of nearly a quarter inch thick and Ebony Rucarta handles.Lockup is as solid as Fort Knox and sounds that way when opened. It's patterned after the old Giant Sunfish (rope cutting knife),but, with a locking blade. The blade came newsprint slicing sharp and comes with a nice leather sheath. There is a downside though, and that is weight, something like 10 oz..I believe it's made from 8cr14mov.It's a real beast of a knife,I like the hell out of it.

The RAT Model 1 from Ontario Cutlery. Made of decent AUS-8 in Taiwan. A sturdy knock about folder at a decent price.
