From Russia With Silence

..... did you try to track it on the Russian Postal Website ? I can't track my packages out of the US on the AusPost site, I use the site from whomever is the originating carrier (Royal mail, Hong Kong Post etc), I would not expect the non-originating carrier to manage the tracking. That said in some places it is possible.

Yes. Neither were trackable on the Russian Post website or USPS site once they had left Russia.

It will arrive...eventually. it's like a present because one day after you've forgotten about it a box covered in enough funny looking russian stamps to look like wrapping paper shows up.

+1 That it will arrive, it just takes time and is very inconsistent from order to order.

I have ordered from "From Russia With Knives" I think 3 or 4 times now. The timing was different on each one, sometimes 1.5 weeks, sometimes 2 or more.

In one instance, I ordered two of the same knife and only got one. I emailed them and they got the second out very quickly with a heartfelt apology. So far they have been awesome to deal with.

My only experience is with FromRussiaWithKnives. It was sent EMS Post, with tracking. It spent 10 inexplicable days at various places in Moscow, then two days at JFK, then arrived at my post office. They tell you to expect it to take 12-21 days.

I too get no tracking between the country of origin and arrival in the U.S. Over the years, only two items didn't arrive: a puukko that the seller shipped unwrapped in a plain white business-size envelope (not even reinforced with tape); a sword probably stolen on the way from London.

Just a quick update, the 0392bwbrz arrived from Florida a couple days ago and I just got notification that customs released the 0392brngld to a post office in New York today. That's pretty cool considering a lot of people who posted on this thread stated they didn't hear anything about their knives until they were delivered. Hopefully I'll see the 0392 either Saturday or Monday. Thank you for all your reassurances!

I got a tracking number which showed me the knife's progress through various Russian cities and at its last stop it went international. And that's the last of the updates. On the US side post office says it's still expecting it, and the Russian side says it's left Russia. I know international shipping can take a while

It does take a while. The longest I've had to wait was 5 weeks, Belgium to Midwestern US. A few months ago I bought a knife from a fellow in Poland, from start to finish 9 business days. How long you'll have to wait depends on the level of service you paid for.

I've never dealt with the Russian postal system, so I can't speak specifically about that country's postal system. I have dealt with several Eastern, Northern, and Western European postal systems. Every country's postal system is different. Your description is typical of a budget option... You can track the package through the originating country's tracking system until it leaves that country, then nothing happens until USPS receives the package. At which point USPS will mark the package as received from the originating country's postal system.

I have never tracked a knife; when it arrives it arrives. I have had stuff from USA in as little as 5 days to as long as 35 days. I have always gotten what I ordered. I got a Carbon V Trailmaster once that came from Malaysia or somewhere that was 3 months. Super deal and I had forgotten about it.

The 0392 arrived from Russia in absolutely pristine condition on February 26. I bought it from a blade forums member, RussianWoodStock. It was still in the unopened shipping box that ZT mails them in. Basically it got here in about 14 days which seems quick to me. There was a week of tracking updates in Russia, then about 5 days of silence and then two days of updates in the US. Overall it was a good experience. Thank you again to everyone who shared their experiences, it was reassuring to know that it's typical for there to be no tracking updates once the item leaves the origin country.
