From tactical to traditional

I typically do not care for the look of knives whose primary purpose is self defense. That however, is bad ass.

Also...I really like this guy. :)

That knife is a gentleman's badass. I like them more than any other gentleman's knives. Very nice.

Matt, good to see you comin' around to the traditional side, can't beat a well made traditional, you have that Alsdorf, that's a sweet piece. :)

Those are nice,

But those tight radius of the guard would be a pain to do. A grinder could not get into there

... perhaps a file? Drill or small hole saw first as large as possible without biting into the profile, then rat's tail file.

That's where I use a carbide hole cutter and clean up with a oscillting spindle sander.

<snip> Ratman, if I were to get someone to make me one, I would go for the exact grind Charlie had on his Team Gemini... deep hollow. But I would also consider a Flat primary w/ a convex secondary as you suggested. It would go well with it if you intended on using more for survival as well as a fighter.

Team Gemini... Lone Aries... did you get it? :D </snip>

CM's mods on his TGLB were really effective as far as turning the blade into a great slicer without compromising on overall toughness and steel removal. If I remember, I think it was a deep hollow grind with a behind-the-edge thickness of .040" and 15 degrees per side.

And on your other point, I really like knives that can pull off the duality of being both a fighter and good for survival/outdoors stuff. It is certainly an admirable accomplishment especially considering that most fighters have a form that strictly follows their primary function.

(I got the Aries pun too btw ;)

Newest addition... Northwoods forest jack (after gun blue).

That would do it

It would definitely be faster than the old file. I tried to make the holes more circular before I settled on the profile you see now, but the profile then loses its eye appeal... the guards don't look good when the choil is semi circled... nor does the guard for that matter.

The duality is achievable but hard to perfect. The closer one gets to perfecting it, the more they realize it's better to have a knife for each class. But life is full of comprise, knives are no different.

I thought you would have got the pun. lol

A bid one and all a safe and happy festive season.

I've got a house full of people today, coming and going... and a belly full of food. Oh how my body loathes this time of the year. DIET SEASON.:)

One here for Ratman79.

Modelled from the larger of the 2 knives Adam is making for me... which in effect is a Hossom model. The top blade is exactly as the blade Adam's making, the bottom is also similar, only the recurve has been taken out.

These have much more spine left on them for chopping and prying... and again, they can be adjusted to any length and depth one wishes.

Personally I don't like that big as airport ricasso area and fat guard. Make it more petite.
