From tactical to traditional

It's all good fun Ratman... I agree, the blade, the fore half of the knife, is an excellent and classic all round profile. Heavy set and lean at the same time... it could be used for most any application. Very versatile and beautiful looking too.

What kind of grind were you thinking (primary and secondary bevels)? Flat or hollow would both be excellent. Flat primary w/ a convex secondary would be excellent also...Shallow hollow, deep hollow...from the drawing, the way it's shaded implies a hollow of some sort, though I can't be sure! Regardless of what it ends up being, you will have a beautiful blade.

Just pulling your leg Charlie. lol Of course its a TG front. That's why I ask you what I did.:D

Ratman, if I were to get someone to make me one, I would go for the exact grind Charlie had on his Team Gemini... deep hollow. But I would also consider a Flat primary w/ a convex secondary as you suggested. It would go well with it if you intended on using more for survival as well as a fighter.

Team Gemini... Lone Aries... did you get it? :D

What would also be good is to see Busse bring out a TG in future that has an asymmetrical handle, for reasons I already discussed... I'd snap one up for sure... a custom version... the ones without a bloodline.

If you put holes in the guard there Busse will send you a letter telling you to cease and desist that they have a patent

Adam,

I am fully aware of 35 U.S.C. 271 and 35 U.S.C. 273(b)

One last thing about the knife... if for any reason whatsoever Jesse wishes I not show the Lone Gemini drawing, he can simply message me. That goes for anyone else regarding any knife drawing I have posted or ever will post. No problem there.

ourgon,

I just had a look at the range of knives you referred to, and may I add, for the first time... and from what I see they don't seem to have any real form of locking mechanism. It's just the blade which holds itself in place once opened... now I see why they're referred to as slipjoints. That's a pretty basic form of lock, or should I say, placement or positioning of the opened blade. Are these any good for hard use? I can't see how they could be. If so, then how is it that they've gained such popularity? I suppose simplicity does have its beauty and practicality... but how far can one take that?

I shall attempt something, see how we go.

ourgon,

I'm not sure how these slipjoints lock the blade,

Full flat grind is better. Personally i like it simple, micarta/bead blasted ti or micarta and bolsters.

Slip joint build, very basic constructions. It's non locking mechanism, but if spring is very strong it hold blade just enough for the job.

It's good to add stop pin for closed blade, to avoid hitting tension bar with the cutting edge while closing.

My Douk Douk after small customization is more comfortable. Next one is Vendedouk, created by Cognet in colaboration with Fred Perrin, based on traditional Corsican Vendetta knife.

Maybe you can mix traditional bolstered slip joint with triadlock?

We have already Broken Skull on the market, but something more elegant...

I see. It doesn't surprise me to see they have a basic locking mechanism in them.

Don't trouble yourself. I just throw ideas out of boredom. :D

I was thinking about custom blade for CS Voyager some time ago. And I did that "drawing" on the picture in PAINT.

I would like to try someday to make my one of kind triadlock folder based on Emerson Mini A-100 or Benchmade 913 or even Douk Douk with triadlock. I'm not satisfied with Broken Skull design in 100%. I would like to change blade finish and shape - maybe spear point blade with stronger tip and thicker G-10. But I'm not knifemaker, so it's very future idea.
