Full Flat Grind Endura4 ZDP-189

I'm pretty sure this has been released by Spyderco already and they are slipping them into the inventory as they are made.

They've done this many times in the past. ;)

I didn't know Spyderco made such a thing using ZDP-189. I really like my flat ground VG-10 Endura with an FRN handle.

Ok, then is that a Krein Regrind logo or a Spyderbug on the blade? Can't tell for sure from the pic.

Paul

the blade has the spyerbug etched on it . the handle is british racing green .

the box has :

model# C10PGRE , bar code# 7 16104 00077 7 . written on the right side is endura , HI and 1262 .

HI is the date code. It will tell you what month and year it was made. Unfortunately, I don't remember the code

It seems that it is the genuine article. Sal has said they will be doing short FFG runs of the regular, VG-10 E4s & D4s, in different colors, to test market reaction.

Since the ZDP models are more for afis, they must have decided to just go ahead and make the change to FFG.

i just looked up the date code H=8 , I=9 , so the date code HI = 08/09 , but i don't see how that's possible for the FFG , i would assume if it was released in august we would have known about it and others would have them  , they must have just used boxes (dated) from the saber grind endura

It could well have been made in Japan, in August. They would take some time to get to Golden (via container boat), and go through QC.

Posted in another forum (for those who don't frequent it too ;)):

The box sticker on the pic says C10PGRE, which would match an ordinary Endura with ZDP steel. It isn't quite clear if the handle is dark green as it is on the "normal" ZDP Enduras.

However, whatever it is, there hasn't been any FFG ZDP-189 blade in the Endura series yet, and this blade is positively an Endura blade AND ZDP-189 AND flat ground by Spyderco since the logo is there. So it can't be some custom "Frankenspyder", instead it seems that Spyderco itself made at least SOME Krein-like FFG ZDP E4 blades.
Since the sticker says the same as for the normal saber ground ZDP Enduras and the code dates it back to August (!), I think it is unlikely that this flavor of the Endura is officially out (yet), so no according sticker with an appropriate SKU (like "C10PGREFFG" or similar). Maybe they just took a stock saber ground E4 ZDP, ground it to FFG and etched their logo back in.

Either
1) this one slipped right through and is an experimental E4 that is not an official variation
or
2) Sal has surprised us again with a knife that came out of nowhere.
Given the fact that VG10 FRN FFG E4's are ante portas "early next year" and the box it came in hasn't an appropriate sticker, I doubt that though.

But unless he or Kristi wants to chime in (which they obviously don't want yet), we can't be sure.

If this was generally available, this would be my next Spyderco. Hands down. Followed quickly by a FFG ZDP-189 Delica.

Where did this knife come from? It would be really nice for anyone interested to have a point of contact to see if any more are available.

The OP said he ordered a saber ZDP189 Endura IV and got the FFG knife shown.
Can you tell us the seller?

Also, I was hoping Sal or an insider would comment.

I hope we see this one available at all the big retailers soon!!!!

Wow, rarely do you see a manufacturer decide to chew up more belts without being asked to or even announcing that you're going to do it. Then again, we all knew Sal was a rare breed.

I guess we're all getting early Christmas presents from Spyderco.

So do we have a place to go to for one of those yet?Do we have to call them and hassle them into opening the boxes to look? This is a full-size pocket laser on a great frame at an impulse-shopper price. Can't wait.

i could post where i ordered it from , is it kosher to list where i purchase a knife from on this forum ?

there are 2 "but's" to go along with where i bought the knife :

1. i ordered a standard endura ZDP and i got the FFG model , so unless they open the box and check you'll be taking a crap shoot (but the saber grind is still looks like a rear nice knife)

2. the place where i bought it from has received alot of negative reviews on BF , many people have had reported bad experiences , but i got my knife in 3 days with zero problems (maybe i got lucky) .
