Full Flat Grind Endura4 ZDP-189

Just one of the rolling changes that we do. I felt that the full flat in ZDP would be appreciated.

The ZDP Delica will follow when saber inventory is depleted.

You sir are awesome.

Will there soon be FFG VG-10 Enduras and Delicas? (PLEASSSSE! HAHA)
I have been looking at getting a G-10 Endura but I would guess the FRN version would be a bit cheaper and a bit lighter for carry too.

is it kosher to list where i purchase a knife from on this forum ?
Yeah, AFAIK, I've never gotten any kind hassle for saying where I get my knives. Deal and auction spotting is a different action. The shop doesn't sound like a great one, I was hoping it would be like New Graham or knifeworks, where you could ask them to check the box for you.

The last retailer I bought a Spyderco from was Cutlery Shoppe (Manix 2), a private sale here for a zdp mule, and an ebay auction for a Bob T slipit round out my last 3. :D

i ordered the knife from the blade shop . i ordered the knife online on a wednsday afternoon (approx 5:00 pm est) , 2 days after i placed the order (friday morning) , i saw they were in the hall of shame and i thought "oh , shit" , i called them later that day (friday) and asked if my order was shipped and they said it was shipped yesterday (thursday) . i received the knife that saturday (approx 2:00 pm est) . i placed the order regular insured shipping (usps) . maybe i just got lucky and being i got a FFG , i did get lucky :D

p.s. they also had the best price on that knife .

thank you , you took a great knife and perfected it !!!

p.s. the britsh racing green color is growing on me more each day .

Appreciated, yes! Thank you Sal. It might put the Endura back in my pocket. The Police 3, and FRN Stretch ZDP have been taking it's place as my primary carrying knife only very lately.

I've carried an Endura since 92, and they just keep getting better and better.

It is appreciated.Just wait for the user feedback from the guys like me that will put a 17 degree angle on them.I will be buying a ffg Delica in that steel too for a his/hers pair. Then come the safe-queens.One of Spyderco's semi-unsung strengths is all of the full flat-ground blades they put out.Notice how these blades always seem to get gushing praise on these forums. They CUT(ask my gf about her zdp Caly 3),to say nothing of those clean, classy lines. And this steel is best used for this sort of blade. For me,a ffg blade in cheaper steel will beat an equivelant folding prybar in super-steel every time.Being able to get the best of both on that great frame for under $100 is just ridiculous.

So question then...If I send my Saber ground ZDP Endura in with some cash, can I get it FFG'd? I'd do a Krein regrind, but I don't want to void my warranty.

The Krein regrind would void your warranty, but actually outfit even the factory FFG Endura due to the edge thickness being 1/2 as thick behind the bevel. Don't get me wrong, a factory 3mm FFG blade with a .019"-.020" edge is a superior cutter (my Stretch CF proves that) but a .010" thick edge cuts that much better, but at the expense of a bit of durability. A .019"-.020" FFG on a production knife is almost as good as you can expect for a factory 3.75" bladed workhorse considering that it has to be backed by a warranty, and I really applaud Spyderco for making this switch on the E4/D4's. It will save many people from having to pay for Krein grinds, and Tom Krein is so busy with his customs and his new folder design that I bet regrinds are starting to become a PITA for him.

Oh, yeah... The price didn't go up? I thought they always said that FFGs cost more to produce, which is why the Stretch FRN is more expensive than a D4 or E4.

haha, the one time blade shops antics turn out good for someone! they dont stock things and apparently order small batches it seems. guess its good to get one from the brand new batch this time!

do you guys think this will lead to the old saber ground blades being hard to sell now for dealers since all the "nuts" know about and will want a FFG blade?

it makes business sense to me to roll it over quietly like so.

um,
WHERE CAN I GET ONE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?:eek::eek:
so far I can't find one anywhere.

So Sal....Would that be something you guys would do for those of us who jumped early on the ZDP E4 Bandwagon? It's an awesome knife as is, but a FFG would just make it that much better, especially with the ZDP.

The saber grind is the only thing I don't like about my sprint run blue zdp delica. Way to go for making the switch! It's a dream come true.

If you're asking if Spyderco would allow trade-ins... That's asking way too much. The ZDP E/D4 has been out for a long, long time. You can't get a knife years ago and then ask to trade it in. And you can't use a knife and ask to trade it in, even if you just got it...

Just consider it an "upgrade." I might even be getting one.

Sounds sort of like the "cash for clunkers" program. This will not happen. And it shouldn't.

BTW, a FFG ZDP E4 sounds fantastic!

By the way,you know that this blade in a sprint run with some odd-colored G10 handles will sell out before it's released.
