Full Tang, Carbon Steel?

Send them a can of neutral paste shoe polish. It works much better than Rennaissance Wax, and it's a lot cheaper.

Really? Dang, I've been scammed!

I'm not being sarcastic, Bill, I respect your opinions very much. I will look into that. Is it "Food-safe"?

No, but neither is "Ren Wax."
I doubt a little taste of either on would hurt you.
Ren Wax does not hold up to handling nearly as well as paste wax or shoe polish. It wasn't formulated for handling. Protecting items in a museum is a lot easier than protecting a pair of shoes or a car's paint job.

James, I don't think you are overthinking it. I have been dealing with the public for 40 years. A lot of them are conscientious about taking care of things. A huge lot of them are NOT. Then there are a lot of people that just look for something to gripe about, especially if the purchase was over 30 cents. Maybe that is just here in southern OK, but I doubt it.

Yeah Cal, it just depends on the person. I've asked this same question over in W&SS, and it doesn't bother those boys one bit. They don't mind, in fact look forward to a little patina and staining. And they actually like taking care of their knives.

But those fellas are pretty hardcore; I'm not sure Joe Public is...

Anyway, thank you all again for your advice and encouragement. :)
