Fun shop stuff. Non-knife projects. What about you?

All the talk from Salem, Patrice, Nick and others got me interested in a tapered buffing arbor. Now I don't do a lot of buffing, but when I do, I use the back side of my variable speed wood lathe. It's rather embarrassing how I've attached a buff to my machine in the past... so I won't even mention it. :o
This is what I hacked together over the weekend. The tapered arbor is from TruGrit, and it is welded to a spare drum-sanding arbor that I purchased from Grizzly... straight as an arrow. It also gives me a bit more clearance between the buffing wheel and the headstock than I've had in the past.

Nice chair Patrice. I LOVE it. Makes me want to go get one from a salvage yard... Hmmmmmm.

Salem, Greg and I will plan a trip for sure.

I got my 1.5 Hp 3 Ph motor in today to swap out on my 9" disc. It will connect to my KBAC27D VFD with my GIB.

I'm also making 2 Anvil stands and 3-4 pipe vises...

Hey Don,
Your buddy could probably find a steady stream of customers on this site! I know I have been beating the bushes for a used 1.5 HP 115 Volt TEFC motor for a while and the dang things are so expensive.

Nice, Erin. Very elegant version. I have a friend who was thinking of building a buffer driven by his metal lathe in a similar fashion; now I can show him this pic, he'll see how easy it is. $17 for the arbor and a little threading later, you have a stout multi-speed buffer.

Brian, the hammer is running well enough that I'd now be happy to run it all day with some friends. Give me a ring when you all get a good weekend or something figured out.

You know what, I will ask him that this weekend or so. He doesn't really focus on the selling of motors, or have that many, but no harm is asking.

Finishing up my BR Rifle that I'm competing with this year, it's a collaboration of my Grandpa's unit in WWII, he was a flight engineer on a B-24 Liberator.
The Silver is for Him and the Green for me.
Something different.

That is really awesome, I kind of want something like this on my .22 now.....

It's IBS and NBRSA score shooting this is a 30 cal single shot Hunter class rifle we shoot 100-300yd (point blank benchrest) restricted to a 6 power scope and rifle can't weight more than 10lbs (thats a trick in itself).

Yeah the building has lots of character :D
But also a lot of work. Most of it didn't even have a floor when I got it! And there's still app. 35-40 square feet of maybe 50+ year old straw laying in the attic. (any body that wants to have it can come and pick it up for free:D)

I'll get some new pictures I've made progress since the ones I've showed.
Here are some nice Winter Wonderland pictures.
(the door and little attic door are black now)

I've set up a 'clean room' and I'm working om a grinder room. They can be heated in winter. The main of the building is not build to keep the warmth in.
Heating it won't work.
The window on the left you see is the clean room and underneath will be the machine room.
