Funny Dark Ops knife story

Congrats on the XM-18 I am thinking about buying a Dark Ops myself and testing it....I KNOW what you guys are thinking, its purely to test them. I dont plan on prying through Hummer rooftops:rolleyes:.

I want one because of this thread, the sillier looking the better. I have this peverse soft spot for truly bad knives.

Sorry to ruin anyones day with this, but it was just so crazy I couldnt resist.
Also if i am breaking any trademark laws with the pic, mods can delete it, but I have never heard or seen any rules about it.

Even funnier then the actual knife is the description;

"Used properly it can generate the last earthly sensation a terrorist feels on a quick trip to the hereafter."

i had one time ( the folder) and it was crap.got it from a so called buddie and one of my junker smith @ wesson was a better knife than it was.what a dope i was to get something from its looks and looks only

I will have to say their adds are way over the top! I have never held one myself and they really do not appeal to me in looks. As far as stealing the designs from Extrema Ratio, I see alot of knife designs "copied" to almost a point of theoretical stealing. Look and see how many makers have copied the Loveless designs, and use them as an exclusive make for them. Bowie, as well as some others have been and still are copied to this day. Now, some people will put a slightly different flair or use different materials. They just do not have the other ingredients to the Dark-Ops stigma, the story itself and the over the top design.

Just giving a different look on things. Like I said, they are not my cup of tea.I like a cleaner design with simplicity and ruggedness(CRK,Dozier,Hinderer,Mosier).

Well, I remember when the first "DO" knives came out and they actually had ER markings that had been left on them!

As far as this company goes, the strictly over-the-top marketing that they use is enough to convince me that I don't want to hold OR use one. Its the principle of the thing.

Although...you gotta admit having a knife "of an intimidating length" that has an integral bottle opener that "when deployed is good for discouraging bar fights in exotic 3rd world locales" WOULD be useful at times. I'm just saying...:D

I do not own or would not own one as well. The point I am trying to make is many like to borrow the ideas of others. Of course, I was not aware of the blade stamping issue. But, there is still plenty of designs being used out there and a good one that comes to mind is the Bradley Alias Line of folders. I inquired about these the other day and was doing some reading on them. I happened along a dealer that had a nice little write-up posted on their website that claimed these were a great knife to buy in place of the Sebenza and even used the same materials, including the pivot bushing assembly. The whole write-up was a justification on why buy these over the Sebenza.

I just did a search and it was a 2005 Newsletter Review from PremiumKnives.com. Pretty obvious what is going on here. And, as a dealer for this brand, if Bradley doesn't care if this has been posted since 2005 by one of their dealers, they are just a guilty. Like I said, I do not agree with the behavior of DO but Bradley has not gotten the stone throwing that DO has.

Bradley did not get into a borderline-legal dispute with CRK, either. Chris Reeve makes high precision titanium framelocks, but he hasn't had to worry about similar knives, since he sells everything he can make.

DO was started by a man who worked for ER and left them under contested circumstances and deliberately set up his new operation in overt competition with them.

I agree. He does sell everything he makes. But that does not make the action right. I could not believe it when I read that review. Just a few of the points they are trying to get across are, why buy a Sebenza when you can get all the same materials and craftsmanship for $100 less and not have to wait forever.

I am NOT sticking up for DO. Believe me, I think that is quite shady what they have done. Especially when I find out about the use of ER Blades. But, I also think we need to expose all who have questionable business practices. I think if more shady practices from all who use them were brought to light, less would be inclined to scam others. You need to be warned when you are on the line and and pay the consequences when you cross it.

If you want to read the review, type in Bradley Alias Knives on you search and two options will come up for PremiumKnives.com. Check them both out, one is the review, the other is to buy one. Tell me if it does not ride the line if not cross it.

Darn, all the suckers are buying dork ops knives. :(

And I just finally got used to doing the three card montie.

Also, as for the Vendetta neck knife, is it just me or does it scream instead of "mall ninja" more like "The Mall Chronicals of Riddick"?

The Bradley knives are not cookie cutter copies of CRK, in fact they look nothing like them. It is not even close to the same thing.
