Future Becker knives

Well, you better answer the call. You won't be disappointed.

What's that old saying...Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime. Same logic applies. I like my ESEE, and it's good for a days use, but but when i grab my 12, I never want to put it down. But that applies to all my BK's, the only limitation is how i can think to put them to use.

Answer that call brother!!!

Honestly the BK12 with micarta and the ESEE 6 with TKC G10 are about as good as it gets from a production mid sized knife. I have likes and dislikes of both, I love the grind of the 12 but the over all shape of the 6. You would be hard pressed to go wrong with either, but for my medium sized hands I find the ESEE to be more comfortable.

The 12 is my favorite of the entire Becker line and will likely stay that way (unless a miracle happens and Rowen starts making the 16).

Congratulations jbass - I don't think you will have any buyers remorse with the purchase. It's a very handy knife; the blade length, handle comfort, fit and finish are top notch. I'm not a collector, all my knives are users, some are used more than others, and I know you will be well served with the BK12. Keep us posted on your thoughts once you've had a chance to put the knife to good use.

Well I was thinking what my ideal future Becker would be so I drew one. I call it the bk25 ( as long as there isn't a bk25 already, don't think there is) because it borrows from the bk2 and bk5.

Specs (my ideal, I carry a hatchet or hawk and bahco Laplander):
Length: 10 3/8" (264mm)
Blade Length: 5" (127mm)
Blade Height: 1 9/16" (40mm)
Width: 1/8" (3mm)
Full convex grind from spine to edge

Specs (production version):
Length: 10 3/8" (264mm)
Blade Length: 5" (127mm)
Blade height: 1 9/16" (40mm)
Width: 3/16” (4.5mm ish)
Full flat grind

BK25

I'm digging it. I can see a few different practical applications. Any particular reason why you didn't do an exposed pommel?

No exposed pommel because I've never used it for anything on my bk2 and it is just extra handle weight, I always carry a hatchet or hawk that I can hammer with anyways.

Actually the pommel is not made for hammering. It's designed to use with a baton to force the tip of the knife into a piece of wood. Pretty handy in some circumstances.
The cutouts in the tang are to reduce handle weight.
