I think yer right on the roti. Had it homemade once when I was a kid. First time I ever chowed down anything with cauliflower. I just remember it being so good (40+ years ago). When d'ya arrive back in NE? Plane or catching a ride back with the Nautilus? My 8 year old watched a ½ hr. of highlights tonight. She loves that stuff! And we don't have regular TV, so...Glad you're getting a little R&R.
Indian, West Indian, tomato, tomaaaato. At least that's what Columbus said. :-/ (what a doof)
This particular roti was potato and TUNA. Yep.
We're breaking down the data deck this week in prep for a major tear-out/overhaul over the winter. You don't generally see the data deck on the videos because it's inside the ship w/o cameras. It's not terribly pretty either, but NEXT year it will be. I get twice as many racks, vibration-mounted, furniture from this millennium, etc. I'm not riding the ship to Florida because I need to GTF home, but will be back on for a week in FL with a small crew to continue the tear-out prep. We've eaten in town the last couple nights, which is a nice change. As much as I like the cooks... well, they're more burned out than I am. Tell your daughter I'm waving from the deck even though the video is down!
Here's a picture from St. George's harbor, Grenada for you guys:
The fort at the top of the hill was the scene of the 1983 coup and invasion:

I'm happy to say that present-day Grenadians seem to appreciate our (US) intervention.
Also anchored here in Grenada's St. George's harbor is the 'Mandalay', a three-masted schooner that made history as the '
Vema' sailing over
1.2 MILLION miles for science for Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. This ship, taking a core a day, helped solidify the theory of continental drift. 'Doc' Ewing, after whom the R/V Maurice Ewing (my former ship) was named, was swept from the decks of the Vema during a storm with three of his fellows, one of whom was not rescued. These days the Vema has retired to the Caribbean to sail pleasure charters as the Mandalay.
Ten years ago I worked for LDEO, and the Vema was a legend. Some of the old retiring guys had sailed on her in their teens and twenties. I nearly peed myself when I googled the markings on her hull and learned that she was the Vema. I actually get choked up thinking about this.
