-But the Espada can be carried a bit more discretely than a fixed blade of similar (or lesser in this instance haha!) OAL. These knives (homage to Spanish navajas) were used as defensive weapons and in my opinion the Espada is a concealable pocket sword that would do just fine in that role.

We're talking about a difference of less than 3 inches between the OAL of the RC and the closed length of the Espada. For the added strength, improved steel and cost savings, I would really find a place for those 3 inches.
 
yeah but you can't clip a Recon Scout to your front pocket. It's not easy to conceal a large FB knife, I've tried. You have to go inside waistband or in my case hang it under your armpit inside of a jacket in a baldric style set up.
 
You know it's sharp when it leaves the bottle intact with water inside. :D

I think CS could have used a higher quality steel for the non-G10 models such as VG10 or something; seems like they put all of their money into making a really nice handle.
