G10 Failure : Finally a pair of usable scales :)

A good drill press, drill bits , dremel tool with every conceivable attachment lol, some kind of clamps or tape. A good ruler, metalic and a transparent plastic one, calipers come in very handy as well,
thats what I have so far, but some other tools might come in handy and im planning on buying

Xacto knife
Hobby drill bits ( small sizes, and they bring a chuck for hand drilling)
Hobby sand paper (very fine grits for finishing)
Counterbores

I imagine that the more you do the more you can customize your tools to your needs and get things you didnt think of before, or do away with others less useful. I used to be into scale modeling, a lot of the tools and techniques sort of cary over. The hard part for me has always been precision, alignment and knowing when to back off a project that is not coming out as expected :)

so I got my hands on a better drill press, and I found some nice red plastic caps, I gave the yellow scales one more pass, look like the other press was off 90 by a degree or two
this time the screws sat perfectly in the recesses. I tried my hand at the red accent/insert its not glued in place or sanded smooth, I just wanted to see how it would look, what do you guys think?

You are welcome for the kind words. I will admit, you have me wondering if I could make my own scales. What equipment do you have to make scales? I am assuming a drill press is one of the items. What other tools are you using?

I use:

Profiling:
Bench-mounted vice
$30 1x30 belt sander with 80 through 220 grit belts
Dremel with sanding drums
Coping saw

Drilling:
Small table-top vice
Several small, cheap clamps
Drill press

Finishing:
Sand paper
Drill press with dremel buffer wheel
3-in-1 oil

Again, liking what I see. Keep it up. Forgot to give you props on your thread title, funny stuff!

Ordered more G10, the tan was supposed to be for the ADAMAS, but again too short, for some reason the scales are not all the same thickness but the other two pairs I ordered are the right size.

This pair was not without minor cosmetic mistakes and slightly rough finishing, but the end result Is usable and fits perfectly, I finally worked out the alignment issues. Countersinking is still somewhat of an issue since I cannot mount the bit on my press until I get the right size collet.
