Is it just me or does this GW2 rather closely resemble the recent RAD (except for the rear talon/lanyard hole)?

GW2 3.95 inch drop point blade flat sabre grind .160 thickness 8.125 overall length
RAD 4.0 inch drop point blade flat sabre grind .155 thickness 8.5 overall length

According to my caliper, my RAD has a thickness of 0.160, in the BB finish. Is yours perhaps satin?


I bet Mr. Brown will have sheaths out for these in a jiffy. Because the blade looks exactly the same as my RAD.

Gonna have to think on this one. I really like the RAD... and this has the exact same grip as the Trustee Warden... it looks like... which feels pretty good in hand.
I guess it is gonna come down to how much I'm going to have to pay in taxes this year... and whether I want a stonewash version of a mashup of those two. Which could be kinda nice.

One of those two (RAD or GW2) would make a nice little paring knife for our camper.

And it is the same price in stonewash as the Trustee Warden was in BB. Or I guess it was/is actually called BIG DC. Anyway... as you can see... I'm talking myself into this one. Welcome at a glimpse of what goes on in my head when Jerry Busse introduces a new offering.

So Jerry, is the edge grind as thin as on the RAD, or is the GW2 edge a little beefier?

RadioActive Duty (RAD)…
The edge is ground extra thin at approximately .015" prior to sharpening for optimal slicing power. (.015" = 4 sheets of printer paper!!!)

I MIGHT have to go for a NUKED stonewash on one of these. Definitely in for one stonewash. Just have to decide on nuking it or not.

That's all I've been buying in recent history, these are from the last year or so if I recall correctly. These have all been soaped up to degrease so they are lighter than if you oil it, oiling it will bring it closer to the look of the green leather sheath but not that dark.

The Trustee Warden could be tan canvas micarta, according to the original owner that ordered it but it looks very close to the green I've been seeing. Seems to me the green is very subdued and almost has more of a Flat Dark Earth look to it when oiled.
