Before

And after

Cleaned up pretty good think man some of those scrapes were deep

Nice. Good job on the clean up. It went to a good home. Now to send it off to a service provider and put that pointy tip back on it again.

save your money, spyderco and any knife manufacture for that matter does not sharpen serrated edge knives

You..are...wrong... :)

Good to know, however, the one time I send my knife in for sharpening, a Shabaria plain edge, it came back just as dull as when I mailed it. Definitely a waste of my shipping cost + $5 and the long turn around time.

That is unfortunate. :(

I prefer to sharpen myself, even with serrations.
Of course, there were a lot of knives that became VERY ugly in my teenage years before I finally learned to do it correctly. :D

The SharpMaker is pretty good at sharpening serrations. For $5 though I'd sent it to Spyderco and see what they can do for you. I've read several stories on the Spyderco website forum of people happy with the sharpening job so it's certainly worth a shot. Of course, you could use sandpaper and take the spine down near the edge to restore the point and get it good and screaming sharp with a SharpMaker on your own. I can keep my Tasman Salt and Spyderhawk Salt VERY sharp with my SharpMaker...sharp enough that every scallop will push cut phone book paper.

Nice I'll have to get me one of those going to check them out online tonight. I'm great with flat stones for regular blades but these serrations are beat up

That's where the pointed ends of the triangle stones for the SharpMaker really come into their own. Lots of people use flat stones or even guided systems to put their main edge on their knives, but use the SharpMaker for regular microbevel touch ups because it's so convenient.

Ty 3rd hey on a off topic are you a ironworker just cause of the name i had to ask cause i am and we rig our iron all day

Great find and clean up job, what a steal for the price. Garage sales are fun, I find a lot of good deals on fishing items at them

Sort of, but not quite. I'm a communications rigger. I build, troubleshoot, and maintain cell phone towers primarily, but also do AM/FM/Broadcast towers, etc. Anything relating to communication infrastructure, tower work, rooftop work, crane work, etc.
