Gareth Bull knives?

Thanks for the thread--my order is now in for one of these, in M390 and orange G10 (or maybe wood, we'll see). The wait is up to December, but for the quality I can be very patient.

Cheers,
Daniel

He can do just about anything. I have seen his folders, fixed blades art knives and cooking knives (gyuto's etc).

this will be my next folder

Why not order both (orange AND wood)??

And which grind will you go for? Marthinus's dropped shoulder slicer grind or full height hollow grind favoured by Gareth. He posted elsewhere ''I put the full hollow on my own knives, a very South African trait. When you apply to our guild you're actually marked on the height of your grind, thus why we like it and strive to do it well.''

Gareth does a great high hollow grind, I really love it in my Ragtooth fixed blade, it is a great slicer! Your grind also looks really thin?

The dropped shoulder grind came from me and Gareth discussing what I would like in a folding hunter knife. The SA Hunter was a result of experiment and looking into knife makers such as JW Smith, Rick Hinderer, the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. The base on the SA Hunter is thicker then the rest of the grind for when ribs or such needs splitting or when working in the front and rear joints of an animal. It is what I wanted in a folding knife for hunting and has worked well for me.

Then Gareth said ok....well lets try it in the small Warlock....but make it a real thin slicer, I just wanted the two Gareth Bull knives to look the same, you know, a good pair. Either way, what ever way you go, you will have a laser!

Yep, I might do that--having both orange and wood would be great!

I have no idea about the grind, and Marthinus' pictures don't help at all! But I'll most likely go with the grind Gareth favors--the knife will be a slicer EDC for me (hence M390 rather than RWL34), and I have another folder or three for hard use when needed. The pictures of his grinds are amazing. I can't wait to see how they do in person.

Thanks!
Daniel

My warlock should ship out friday so ill have it the week after. I am extremely anxious for this one.

Will do =D I am getting orange and od green scales for it. I woulda had it a while ago but he had some issues with the orange g10 not getting in on time. So I'm extra anxious to get my hands on it.

The issue was his supplier sent the wrong orange G10, flat not textured, so he had to return it to the States and wait for replacement. As I had several other scales I asked Gareth to send mine with those and he is sending the orange by separate post when it arrives.

Was at at BBQ yesterday and the hollow grind blade is definitely a fearsome slicer.

Nope :/ The original time frame for him being done was late may/early june. I'm kinda irritated but i know im gonna like it so ill just keep waiting.

Perfection takes time. From what I've seen and read in all the different forums, everyone who has had the privilege to own a Gareth Bull custom has had their expectations exceeded. Despite being working knives (especially his folders), the design is so elegant and simple that you wouldn't hesitate to classify them as a gentleman's carry. No thumbstuds, thumbdiscs, or holes, minimalist construction with such a keen degree of attention to overall fit and finish, they lack nothing. Someday... :)

Until then, keep those pics coming!

im sure hes super busy right now. All this positive publicity has pushed his wait from 2-3months to half a year now.

all of this is true and his prices cannot be beat for a custom, especially at the precision tolerances and work put into them.

decided to bump this one with a fine recent example of Gareth's

This one is in the post to me now, a Warlock with a few mods;

The 3 scales shown are Titanium, G10 O/D Green & Carbon Fıbre.

Guys on Britishblades forum did a group buy of 10 Warlocks from Gareth, there have only been positive comments

What's the round object on the right side of the case? Looks like a flashlight, but it's partially covered.
