GAW - Dog Days of Summer - Winner Post 22

Who doesn't love ice cream? Just finished some myself, after seeing my wife eating some. I believe it's called "Turtle" ice cream, with pecans, caramel, and little chocolate turtles, in what looks like a vanilla ice cream base. It's not my favorite, though. Strawberry and vanilla are my favorite flavors, with chocolate coming in third. If I have to pick one, guess I'll go with strawberry. And where is the best? At Marble Slab Creamery.

Don't know where this one is located (got pic off the net), but we have three locations in my city. It is the richest ice cream I have ever had, with a high fat content.

A member was kind enough to nominate me, so I am not entering for myself. "I'm in" for mitch13 mitch13 , if that's okay.

Toted these to work today. One is a Jack Black Jack Black SFO lambsfoot from 2018, and the other is a Case trapper, as y'all know.

Stay cool! :cool::thumbsup:
Well thanks Vince.
Best ice cream as a kid, was at home bowl of vanilla top it with chocolate powder & stir it till you made your own soft serve

I'm in 🥳
Wow what a great GAW ! I can't resist to such a beautiful knife and I'm myself a great fan of ice creams.

The best place I've ever found closed 2 years ago because of the pandemic and the crises it caused.
It's was a small boutique in the old center of Cagliari South Sardigna called Gocce di Gelato e cioccolato. All my family and I traveled in France and Italy looking for the same level of tastes and we have never found something similar. It's for my children almost a tragedy 😌

Another great place for ice creams is Palermo in Sicily . They have a tradition to serve very good ice creams in a brioche bun.

A nice souvenir .

Thanks again for this beautiful GAW.

I’m in for a very nice knife. There are a couple of great Ice cream stops here in the Saint Croix valley, notably Selma’s in Afton, and Nelson’s in Stillwater. But I’m going to name one that is often a destination for me whenever I head out west, the Blue Bunny factory store in La Mars, Iowa.

Not an entry for me, let's nominate JohnDF JohnDF if I get picked.

My favorite place to go is called Kimball Farms. Their first operation was in Westford, MA. That has ballooned into a destination, with restaurant, gift shop, bumper boats, etc. They have other locations around the area as well.

It's so popular that the lines can easily get 10 people deep. I used to get stuff like this, but I can't eat like that anymore. (Let's be clear, I CAN eat like that, I just SHOULDN'T)

However, the place I go to more often is Moo's Place in Derry, NH. Nothing too fancy, just decent ice cream. My wife likes it cause they offer peanut butter sauce as a topping...I usually get the bada-bing cherry chip flavor when I go.

A very generous giveaway :) May I enter for Paul Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 please? :)

Lots of traditional ice cream firms in Sheffield, Manfredi's, Granelli's, Sanella's, Cuneo's, to name just four, but I always liked Bradley's Dairy Ice Cream from Derbyshire. It's not often I eat ice cream at home, but if I do, with blackberry crumble or apple pie, it's vanilla. Sometimes I'll make some of my Drambuie sauce ;) While it's rare I have ice cream out, I had it a couple of times on a recent trip to the seaside, and was a bit overwhelmed by the choice. The ice cream was actually made by Northern Bloc, half a mile from where I live. I had tiramisu the first time, and rum and raisan the second :)

Kudos for the generous giveaway. I'd like to enter on behalf of Ironbut Ironbut .

We are certainly in the Dog Days of Summer:

My favorite local ice cream place is Sandy's Frozen Custard (Sandy is the little one in the photo from 1946) They don't have much variety of flavors, but are the only place I know in Texas that sells butterscotch topping. Most folks here don't understand it's not the same as caramel.

We have a winner! Good burgers too. Might need to hit barton springs afterwards with this heat though.

Wow! In the Austin area? Got a conference in the area next month--might check that out. I know the difference between butterscotch and caramel, and I love them both.
You should go to Terry Black's bbq right down the road and Sandy's afterwards. Just south of the river if your conference is downtown. There is a hilarious video on YouTube of some British guys trying Texas bbq there for the first time if you're bored and want to make yourself hungry.

Thanks! Conference in Round Rock. Got a son in Austin and another relative in south Austin, so should be able to do that. Love Texas BBQ!

Nice, I live in Round Rock if you need any recommendations up that way. Shoot me a pm if so.

Sorry to derail the thread, but I figure talking a little Texas bbq isn't gonna upset anyone too much.

Not an entry for me good sir but a very generous GAW. I would like to nominate my brother TXGatorbait TXGatorbait

If I had to hazard a guess, Greg prefers Blue Bell “Great Divide” which is half vanilla, half milk chocolate in the carton these days.

When we were kids I can say our favorite for sure was vanilla with our Granny’s homemade chocolate sauce. 😎👍👍

Jack Black Jack Black and JM2 JM2 thank you very much .

Thank you for this amazing GAW. I would like to nominate my buddy Pete Angry Waiter Angry Waiter .

My favorite ice cream is peach ice cream from a custard shop in Happy Valley Pennsylvania. I for the life of me can't remember what the place is called but know exactly how to get there when I am within a 50 mile radius of it.
