GAW!! Time to give back :) **Winners in post 87**

He's a WHOPPER!!!

Thank you Jon, The Elephant Toenail I was lucky to win in your GAW arrived to today and he is quite impressive:thumbup:

I can only imagine the damage this big boy would do to a stack of cardboard;)

Thank you again Jon:thumbup:

Congrats on your sunfish, Paul.:thumbup:
That's a fistful of knife there!
I don't think I've ever seen an elephant toenail pattern in person. They're supposed to be even larger than a sunfish?

GT, I listed it wrong as a Sunfish---Elephant Toenail is the model...my bad.

I finally received the Rough Rider canoe whittler lock back. Like a doofus, I supplied the wrong zip code! :o. In addition to being my first canoe pattern, it is also my first Rough Rider. I have to say that I favorably approve of both. Enough so to probably try a more convential canoe in the future. Thanks again Jon. Not only for the cool knife but also for allowing me the chance to try something new and out of my normal comfort zone.

Glad it made it to ya bud :)

The RR brand is actually pretty decent, and for the price can't be beat. Enjoy it and have a great holiday!!

Jamie, congrats again on the knife you won, and thanks for sharing your first impressions. And because I was inspired by Jon's generous GAW and his photo of the knife you got, I have a RR lockback canoe whittler on its way to me right now :D

So, the Barlow knife finally made it to me... it only took it 7 months... wow this a record even for the Romanian post office... normally overseas takes 1-3 months ... only had an action figure from Canada get here in 6 months before... it seems they had lost this package somewhere under a counter or something...
Anyway, it's here and after a bit of TLC from the perilous journey, here it is in its glory. I really do like the thing... never had an American traditional but I can say I'm already semi-converted. I'm used to Swiss/German/French/Spanish knives and this is so very different in design.
The scales look very nice and are very comfy and grippy, the droppoint blade looks great and easily took a wicked edge.
Not convinced about the steel grade, the fitting of the scales and the overall size (will only fit 3 1/2 fingers).
As a collectible it is very very nice and quite a rare sight this side of the pond.. it's also one of the classiest looking knives I've ever seen... must look for a canoe next :D
Thank you again for your generosity ThievesLikeUs.

PS: I bet you guys thought I'm some ungrateful sod didn't even say thanks and post a pic of it ;)
PPS: It's my birthday next week so perfect timing as I got myself a wallet instead of a knife this year, for a change...
