I just got an email from knife works saying that the Gauls Bradley 2 is available for pre order. I was just wondering. What are the main difference between it and the previous model? I am considering getting one especially for the price

I just saw that also. I'm confused here; is it larger than the original? The slabs seem to go flush to the edge but I don't see relief to access the lock.

Here's the specs on Knifeworks:

Original
Blade 3 7/16
Thickness 1/8
Closed 4 11/16
Overall 8 5/64
Weight 5.5 oz

Bradley 2l
Blade 3.6
Thickness 3.0
Closed 4.82
Overall 7.42 ??
Weight 4.4 oz

Looks like the liners were skeletonized to lower the weight?

It's a different, much better imo, shape. I have a pic from another thread, but it's not mine to post.

Main observed differences:
  • No more finger choil, replaced by finger guard.
  • Longer, thinner (in both dimensions), lighter
GB2's handle is reminiscent of the Benchmade Osborne 940 shape while maintaining the original aesthetic (CF/G10 scales over proud full-length liners).

Must be quite a bit thinner (liners and scales?) to achieve that weight loss. The original has skeletonized liners although it's possible that the GB2 has even more holes drilled in liners.
The price drop, while welcome is a bit of head scratcher.

Yeah, the liners and scales look a good deal thinner. On top of the blade stock being thinner and the skeletonization, that's significantly less metal.
I really like the look of this knife. If it's anything like the first one in terms of smoothness and strength, it'll be like a tank in a tuxedo.

I have no doubt it will be as strong and smooth as the first one. Looks to be improved all around. Really looking forward to this model!

I am incredibly excited about this knife. The GB 1 was awesome. From what I can see, the GB 2 is going to address the few less than perfect design aspects that were present on the GB 1. I am going to buy an spare GB 1, and at least one GB 2 when it comes out.

I went through 2 GB 1's and couldn't get over the thickness and overall width of the knife. The new version improves on every aspect of the original design so I am really excited for this release. I'm also happy that they used a thinner blade stock which should make it an incredible cutter.

Getting my preorder in today.

I just got an email this morning from Knifeworks telling me the GB2 is now available for pre-order.

Am I late to the party on this, did everyone already know? I ask because usually I am late in reporting such news. You know....busy and shtuff. :D

They've been up for a while, along with some of the other new knives. I was under the impression that preorders actually tend to take longer to receive than just ordering when they are released, unless the model sells out instantly. Am I mistaken?

I got an email this morning too. I kinda like the choil on the first, but like things about the new one too. Not sure which I like the best.

The Positron is what really got my attention. I think I'm one of the few though, as I haven't heard much about it.

At $150 with impeccable f&f, the Gayle Bradley is considered by many to be the best value in the entire Spyderco lineup. Am I the only one noticing that the 2nd iteration is being offered for $125? If this thing is the equal of its predecessor in build quality then this will be a helluva a deal at $125!

All I know is that I'm absolutely stoked by that price point.

I originally targeted the Positron, but I recently decided to go with the GB2 instead because I already carry something small and really can't see a place where I would use a flipper in public comfortably.

The lines on the GB2 are exceptional. The way the tang flows into the handle open and closed shows an attentive eye for detail. I know some people don't like the occluded opening hole and the hidden liner lock, but those aren't issues for me.
