I decided to remove some steel from the liners, I spent about 10 minutes a drill and gave up....broke out the dremel with the black cutting discs and was done in 20 minutes.

The knife is slightly heavier than my mili now and you can feel the blade out past the handle now which was bothering me that I couldn't before. The knife is still a tank I may try shaving some more off.

It would've looked better if you drilled out maybe 20-30 .25" sized holes, uniformally on each side.

Hey,if it works for you, that's all that matters.

A drill press would have been perfect for that as it would have looked much better and probably balance better also.

It looks like you removed material from both sides of the liners?

Of course a drill press would be better, but he could've done it freehand with a pencil & a ruler, marking it before drilling.

You could get some Ti and make a new liner for it, or even just go for a linerless non locking side.

WOW!!! That is like seeing a ferrari that has been chopped up and given low rider rims with spinners.

I did both sides only where I could, I like it much better now for EDC. The strech 2 was my favorite but, I don't like backlocks, I may clean up my work but I don't marvel at liners all day, I am capable of some delicate stuff, check my para thread.

That is a accurrate analogy, you forgot the dingle balls on the headliner and the bobble-head on the dash. The knife is a bit heavier than a lot of others, but it's not like you're carrying a bowling ball in your pocket.

I like the heft of the Bradley and don't mind the weight at all; 5.5oz really isn't that much. It would be interesting though to handle a lighter one and see how it balances. I think you at least get points for having the chutzpah to mod such a nice knife. :)

Sheesh.

>_< I dont even know what to say, looks like a hack job on such a beautiful knife.

Kudos? As long as it makes you happy! :P

Lots of comments on the cosmetics - I'd be worried about safety, if the lock-side liner was chopped. I may have missed it, but I don't recall seeing any linerlocks that have perforated/ventilated liners on the lock side.

As a suggestion for future mods (if you *care* about how it looks). Using your grinder on the outboard side of the linner grind out some material but do not go all the way through. You may not remove as much weight, but it will have a more stock look. (the scale hides your work).

Personally I do not see what all the fuss is about. The look would not bother me but apparently others do not see it that way. It is all about having a tool that works for your needs...not to say that Gayle did not do a pretty great job of it to begin with.

At the end of the day, I lack the design/structural/materials knowledge I would need to have confidence in doing that myself. I enjoy seeing mods though.

Thanks for sharing!

Lots of bashing...it's his knife. He personalized it in a way that he will get more enjoyment out of HIS purchase.

Whatever works for you.

I say: :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good for you, SCREEM. I sold mine not too long ago, but will buy again if a future version comes with skeletonized liners.

Wow! Though I still can't understand the fuss over the weight, at least you put your money where your mouth is and went for it.

Though the pictures remind me of a saying "Better is often the enemy of good enough..."

That makes more sense to me. I'd rather do my experiments on a new peice rather than foul up the knife itself...

Did you weigh it before and after?
How much weight did you actually lose? an ounce?..less?

I hope you love it, because I don't see selling it again like that.
I would rather:
Just use it as it was, or buy a different Knife...

OR

Remove the non locking liner
& loss of those threaded holes for the clip probably means inserting a TI liner inset into the Carbon fibre on that side to backup the pocket clip holes

-replace the locking liner with a titanium one.
-lose those steel? standoffs and thong hole tube for replacement with titanium standoffs.
-regrind the blade into a flat grind to thin it out and re-balance the weight lost.
