Gayle Bradley weight loss

why are people saying it's a mess. it looks fine. it's not like you messed up the blade of carbon fiber. it's not like the liners really make it look ugly. as far as home jobs do, I think you did just fine

The handle weight was an issue for me, now it feels balanced and most important I like it more, I will clean up my work this week and post pics of the dismantled liners.

I would not have EDC'ed this knife stock, if others feel the same, I may have put this option out there for them.

I will go by the post office and have it weighed when i get a chance.

Thanks for the  :D

.....I have modders desease, take the mili for example....the choil is partly blocked by the g10, so I jimped it, now I'm 100% happy with it.
clicky:

Sorry if I offended anyone with my sloppy work, or gave the impression that the designers where wrong and I am right, that is not the case I just personnalize things to suit me best is all.

I say good for you for going for it. It may not be for everyone, but now your knife is truly yours.

Hey, I made an ugly mess out of a Delica, and now it performs much better. I thought that we as Spyderco owners appreciate function over form more than anyone.

Wow, you guys sure are a friendly bunch today.

Congrats on doing the mod. I've had a few non-skeletonized knives (Manix 2) I've thought about lightening. It's always fun to work on something to make it fit your needs better.

I once thought this too, then I realized how many Spyderco fans are concerned over trivial things like the steel fusion line in the 420J2/ZDP189 Caly 3 or the "cheap" plastic lock release of the Manix 2. Who cares about function as long as it looks pretty, right?

you did not offend me in the least.

I encourage you to do and post up more! I love seeing customs. I may not love every result but that is not the point.

And FWIW I think your results are pretty cool. Using what you have is one thing but knowing how to make it better in spite of what others think is really cool.

I remember the first spyder hole I saw. It looked ugly...til I figured out what it was all about.

I do not think it is a matter of people being mean, as it is just the shock of seeing such a well done knife that has been hacked up. If the knife works for him, then great, but to expect others to be excited about the work done there is reaching a little too far. I am all for form and function over looks, but Spyderco has many other knife options that will give you lighter weight without the dremel mod. If you are set on the Bradley being lighter, send it off to the pros that use the right equipment. Props for trying it yourself, and I apologize for not being supportive.

Well, granted, there were certainly better ways to do this particular mod lol

Sad but true, It seems that the collectors out number the users 10 to 1 these days.

I'm sure it works fine but I would have either sold it or drilled it. Good job though because you're happy :)

You know that both can be had at the same time, right?:)

True. Build me a knife designed with no regard to looks and every regard to function, and I will find it beautiful. Example: Military

The plastic ball bearing cage on the Manix 2 functions perfectly, looks fine in my eyes, others think it looks cheap...who cares it works.

Some don't think textured G10 looks good...who cares it works.

Fusion line on the Caly 3 CF? Who cares...it works...and it makes the lower corrosion resistance of ZDP189 less of an issue. It improves performance compared to solid ZDP189. But some might not like a line on their blade, so we should just go with solid ZDP189.

I should stop. I have a much different perspective than many people on this forum I think.

If I had a dollar for every Spyderco knife posted on this site that looks like it's been used to cut something and maybe even been sharpened once or twice, I could probably buy a pack of gum. :D

Yeah someone started a 'Post your user pics here' thread a while back. Not surprisingly it got about 3 responses.

I've done worse things to knives. I'm all for personalizing something to fit you better as a user. Looks are about the last thing on my list of priorities, unless it comes down to pink knives. I can't have a pink knife under any circumstances. :)

I admire your "courage" for lack of a better word, in doing this mod, but also think it might have come out cleaner if you'd done as others suggested and drilled circular holes into the frame instead.
Personally, I'd be hard pressed to do something like that to one of my pricier knives without thinking it through thoroughly, making sure every hole was properly spaced, lined up, etc etc.

Good on ya Screem for making the Bradley work better for you, I have no hesitation in modifying my knives to better suit my needs. My Bradley will be undergoing some modifications soon too, skeletonising the liners might yet be part of that. I'm interested to hear more about how you feel the balance of your Bradley is now. I have no issue with the actual weight of the Bradley but the balance doesn't exactly feel natural for me.

Nicely put Vivi, 98% of my Spydies are work tools and function is always the only priority. I don't collect, but I count myself lucky to be using some of best high performance knives around.
I always enjoy Yab's pics, another person here who actually uses their knives. I'm sure some of his pics give collectors heart attacks.

The bulk of niggling complaints around here would be non existent if people actually understood their intended function. They would learn a lot and better appreciate their design by actually using them.

The typical one that gets me riled up is "My Millie sits to high in my pocket, every body in my office can see I'm carrying a big knife and the rough g10 ruins my dress pants ... but I really like it!

Why some of these people insist on carrying knives which are obviously designed for completely different environments to their own is a mystery to me.

...anyway I'm getting a bit carried away now as I wasn't originally intending to go off on a rant so I'll stop while I still can.

To finish up I'll say.... Life must be pretty damn good when all you have to complain about is a harmon line ;)

That's so true, It's called the Military for a reason, It's not called the Spyderco Pencil Pusher.

Good for you. If that's what makes the knife feel right to you so be it. I would have never done anything to mine. I like it just how it is.
