GB lock failed!~!

Have you tested to see if the pivot screw tension is effecting the liner travel? I only ask this because with my GB (1st run) the liner engages earlier if I slacken it off from my normal tension. FWIW I generally keep my pivots tension adjusted rather tight.
IMO this happens because the stop pin is not screwed to the liners as it is normally is with most Spyderco liner locks, therefore pivot tension can have a more pronounced effect on the liner engagement, as the pivot screw is the only part securing the front half of knife together.

Any way the short version...Tighten the pivot right up and see if still happens!

I've tried "playing around" with the pivot. As I mentioned, I even took the knife apart and reassembled. However I am picky about pivot tension and I think it was set perfectly fine when it failed. After reassembly I again tightened the pivot to the tension I consider perfect, and yet it could fail.

I usually also like to take care of my knife problems myself. I think I can totally readjust the lock up by wearing the liner in. I know that making all kind of attempts like these will probably void my warranty. But that is ok. Thankfully I can afford buying a new GB, even, without thinking twice. It just seems more challenging and fun! Will get me and the GB a little closer, now the we got a little "history". ;)
Anyway, I already see progress. the liner engages more securely and does not fail neither of my two tests. It would probably not fail even if I tried to drill some holes in wood or something crazy like that :D I will, however, avoid doing anything "crazy" like that with folders, from now on. :p

If it's a true failure you should send it in so they can make sure it's not something that might be on other knives. Can't potentially have the blood of other fingers on your hands with a clear conscience, now can you?

I have been able to make all of my locking knives fail if I do certain things just right.
The GB may just be the most difficult one for me to unlock through misuse.

I found I could make my friend's Extrema Ratio MPC's lockback fail (even with its safe on) throwing it into a tree when hitting at the wrong angle. That same knife was flawless tested putting down some nails, stabbing car doors, every crazy stuff the owner thought about for proving its toughness (he's a ER dealer by the way)... but no lock is perfect and a liner lock is far from being the most dependable. In the end you can find weakness in every knife when doing the wrong thing, though that one was looking so good after so much stress that I eventually bought one for me (so far not doing silly things with mine).
