After I saw the sheepsfoot easy open boys knife; I knew i had to have it. I am a little hesitant to buy one, though, because one small reason. When i see pictures of them closed, it looks like a little bit of the blades edge is exposed at the easy open cutout. My concern is that keys and other pocket goodies may hit the edge. If i were to buy the knife, i would want to carry and use it. I do not want my every day carry to have edge damage from just being in my pocket.

Has anyone ever had this problem?
Perhaps am I overreacting to something so insignificant it will not matter.

I have a EO #15, and the blade edge seats below the cutout. It shouldn't be an issue.

Also, if you are worried about your knife getting damaged from being in your pocket with keys, etc. I would highly recommend getting a 'pocket slip' sheath for it. They are slim and slide in and out of your pocket easily, and do a great job of keeping your knife from getting all scratched up.

Thank you, sir. There goes $92 of my hard earned money to my addiction. As for the pocket slips, I made one a while back, but did not like it very much.

double-tap...somehow...

I think you'll really like that version of the #15.

I had an EO #15 w/Sheepfoot and the edge was not exposed in the EO cutout. It's a great knife, you'll like it.

How come most of the 15's I can find are EOs? What are the pros/cons of having the EO piece cut out?

The EO's were the most recent production run of the #15's. The EO notch makes it easier to pinch the blade to open it instead of using the long pull/nail nick.

I have one too and have carried it daily for some time. There's no problem whatsoever with edge exposure. It's not even close really. It's been my favorite since I got it.

It has no brass, only steel, so I like to think of it as a tough working knife, even though I carry it like a gent's knife too. I don't like the half stops, but it opens easy enough, which is what I wanted.

I just received one in the mail today. A lot of times when I get a new knife in my hands, its just OK. This little baby is exactly what I've been looking for! Its light weight, and small enough that it doesn't scare folks.Opens easily, and even the easy open cut out, is right where my pinky finger fits when open. It's a keeper for sure,in fact, I will order another for back up. Oh yeah love the sheep's foot blade.

Man, this knife in sheepsfoot is so darn sexy. I already have a few with a wharn/sheep style blade but its so good looking!!

Oh you mean this guy here on top... ;) Great knife and the tip is definitely not sticking out to where the edge could be damaged. Mine fits nicely in the watch pocket of my jeans.

My wife has great tastes in gloves. Some of the gloves she bought that she wore out had 'fingers' already sewn that needed a simple hem on the end and a fold with a single stitch line to make fantastic slip joint sheaths. I've carried many glove leather sheath slippies that way for years. See a nice pair of old calf leather gloves laying around? There is your slip sheath right there and its already usable as is really even if you want disposable throw out types once they fray up.

You can see the blade edge showing in the EO notch on this one.

Nah, that's just the finger nail clipper option....you have to pay extra for that...

Just kidding...... :D

As an aside, I do think the cutout on this model would be great for trimming cigars!

Oh, I thought it was the wire stripper option.. <jk>
seriously though, GEC blade heights vary, I invite others to post pics of their EO's with the blade edge below the EO notch.

If I'm not mistaken, you an easily lower the blade by filing a minute amount of steel off the kick. I would sooner have on sit too high than too low.
