GEC # 15 Boys Knife Suggestions

Thanks everyone, I was able to locate the two blade spear and pen combo in ebony but passed on it, I decided I'd like the single blade but couldn't find one. So far I haven't treated myself to a new knife I am looking at other options, I do like the case peanut in black so that might be an option, but for now I will continue my search for my special knife. I'm a big fan of black so more than likely it will have a black handle. Thanks for all the help, suggestions and congratulations on the new baby.

i'm looking at the tc boys knife #15, and i'm not sure whether to get the single blade or 2. do you prefer one or two in this knife, and reason for it.
thanks.

1 blade all the way! Why you ask? So you have more room for another knife in your pocket! :D

Also, I love to pinch open my knives and it's much easier on a single blade

i was just going to say, looking at the 15 with two blades, it looks like it would be a little tough to get that bigger blade out with the pen blade in the way, but i could be wrong. :p

2 blades, because I like having 2 or more blades in that size of knife. Other people prefer single bladed knives. It's a matter of personal preference. You'll need to make up your own mind.

Great knife, but PLEASE, let's not go through this every few days.

Then pass it by.

That's a fair comment, but the last post in the thread Pertinux linked to is just 5 days old, and we've recently had numerous threads discussing the Boy's Knife. Sometimes the same issues come up, of course, but is it really necessary to discuss the same issue at the same time, it just clutters up the forum? The OP has already stated (in relation to the other thread linked to by Pertinux):

thanks. good reading in there, and i feel like we're repeating everything that's in there. :p

Using the 'search' function would help eliminate a lot of these duplicate threads, but since Cards94 has been directed to the other thread, and found it helpful, he or she has the option to lock this thread, or the threads could of course be merged. Better to avoid them in the first place IMO.

If you can get both, do so. I carry a single blade Charlow every day, because I am still stuck in one handed wonder mode. It's what I like. Sometimes I toss one of my two blade Charlows in my pocket. Either one is great, I didn't notice much difference between the single and double as far as junk in my pockets, but I usually have at least two slipjoints and a one hand opener on me, so I might not notice a ton of knives ;). You might just toss both boys knives in your pockets, or put one aside for your kids.

As with all of the #15 patterns, they are addictive.

When I saw the boy's knife that Smithhammer was sharing with us, a smooth ivory bone...I wanted one. His was a single blade. At the time I could only find, from a Dealer, was a ivory bone with two blades, But really that was OK with me. So I have a two blade smooth ivory bone boys knife. Thank you Smithhammer!!

I usually like a two blade pattern for EDC. The second blade really doesn't add that much more width or the weight to the knife. The second smaller blade sure adds to the utility of the knife for EDC. I'm use to carrying a stockman so the two blade boys knife and my Charlows is really like a compact package for me.

Its all a matter of ones perspective. To each their own....Enjoy them all. Its a SWEEEEET little knife.

My regards, Tom

If you see a new thread that could be merged with one that is recent and appropriate, you can report and supply the link. Sometimes a mod may not merge them. Sometimes it's kind of a judgement call. I know a few of you do it already and it is appreciated.

I'm not real good at remembering the specific threads. Reading every thread that has a new post, kind of jumbles them all up for me. I for one see the reason for merging.

I prefer the 2 blade for a user. It's a bit thicker and fits my hand better and I can always use a second blade.

Well folks I didn't end up getting the boys knife, I did however just order a GEC Pemberton with black buffalo horn scales. Looking forward to getting it cant wait.
