GEC 2023 #87 English Jack

I think this will be a fun release - I'm eager to see the other cover options. It's a good size with a long nimble main blade and that makes for a pretty nice pocket knife.

I only have this one. The only reason that I don't carry it is because both blades are pretty thick behind the edge and that doesn't make for a good everyday cutter, in my opinion. I just haven't taken the time to reprofile it - I have lots of other knives that are already well suited.

Aside from the edge thickness, it's a well made knife with very pretty bone and an excellently firm pull and snap.

Being an English Jack, I'll be disappointed if at least the Northfields don't have a fancier bolster.
Fluted, beveled, engraved, rat-tailed, something decorative.
I'd like to think the NF bolsters will come with embellishments...which ones though? :) I'd like to see fluted bolsters like in some of the traditional examples Charlie posted. I'd really like to see one of those in tortoise shell!

Fine looks to that one, I have the Teardrop Jack counterpart in the same Red Winterbottom type bone. Tang stamps and blade etches nicely executed in these QCCC series. Schatt & Morgan also did a very pretty looking Mini English Jack, scaled down version as part of its Premier Series at the beginning of the century. Had one but gave it away, believe that was a mistake o_O

Paraphrasing Levine here : "English Jack is a term that was commonly applied to deluxe large-sized (over 4 ")slim, regular, and sleeve-board jack knives. Premium handle materials, fancy bolsters, and locking master blades are often seen on them....they often have a single clip blade, others a spear....some have a pen second blade. Most of the large size jack knives exported from England to the United States from the mid 19th to early 20th centuries fit this definition. . However, the term 'English jack' is an American term, and was used equally on large high-grade straight jacks made in this country "

As for Beaver...they were English but were hunted into extinction in the c16th  hence the re-introduction, they are beneficial to water eco-systems/wetlands.

So.... Say I want to get one of these and pay retail instead of double or more from a scalper.

How do I go about doing this? There is absolutely no information on it at all on the GEC website and dlt (and their other listed sellers) has nothing on their website besides sold out models.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! I just don't really get how this works.
