GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

I have three Northwoods and 7 of the Tidioutes and Northfields from this run. The Northwoods versions all have a much snappier snap. The Tidioutes and Northfields are a little on the lazy side. Has anyone else noticed this?IMG_4376.JPG

That is just beautiful, Jack.

I like small knives, but I don't have a #25. I've been apprehensive about them since I've read that the pull can be a nail breaker. I had it in mind that if I ever came across one of the easy-open sheepsfoots at a good price I'd give it a try. I've been admiring your Unicorn Ivory this week, and today I saw a chance to buy one discounted for cosmetic issues and snatched it up. I'm looking forward to joining the WLST Club, but I hope I can open it comfortably. Is the blade pinchable?

The sheepsfoot #25s are pinchable even without the eo notch.
How about the spears? Sorry I wasn't clear: I could not resist a unicorn, so I took a chance even though it's a spear blade.

I have a Goldenrod and Blood Red Saw Cut and both are probably a 5 . I don't think you will have a problem r8shell r8shell

More Unicorns will be showing up on dealers shelves, but they will be "S" models. We won't see this material again due to the 'cracking' issues.
I've got one coming. :) Do you know how many were made?

Thank you. I have nimble fingers, but weak nails.

Yes I have noticed and the Tidioute and Northfields are not as lazy as the Blade Forum, even though it is a totally different pattern.

I just gave my red sawcut to my wife. She isn't a knife person really and so slipjoints are a bit new to her. However, she was able to open the spear blade no problem. And as she is a nail biter, that is no small feat...

I hope the knife works out for you, I'll be curious to know your thoughts on it once you get it in hand.

Rachel, I avoided the 25 for the same reason, I hate a nail-bender and have moved on from very desirable knives because they were too stiff.

The 25 is stout, but I don't think I'd rate it higher than a 5 or 6/10. I think the perception is influenced by the pull being hearty for such a small knife, but I wouldn't consider any from this run Neil breakers.

It took me a while to get used to the pull on my #25 Unicorn, as I think it's a bit tougher of a pull - combined with a very slippery handle material.

Although it has been a busy month, I did manage with some assistance from friends and my better half to grab one of each of the options on this release. I was well aware that a #25 drop was going to occur this year and so also knew that it was going to be expensive! But what are you going to do when you are obsessed? Obsessed not possessed ;)

And the pile side...

Then other day Mike listed a few stag that he thought were substandard, I jumped on one and I am very happy with what showed up today. To me this is what polished stag should look like.

I thought the polished stag was going to be my least favorite, but it turns out that it was pretty much my favorite from this run. And for the same reason as you, mine was very smooth (like the smooth bone I generally prefer) and the pile side had a bit of a soup bone feel. Yours is a great example!!

Your Northwoods camel bone is wildly attractive!

Thanks! My plan going in was that the giraffe bone was going to be the last one I was going to grab as I thought the chances of it being "gone" from the cart when I was checking out would mess up my whole drop. So after I grabbed the others, I just scrolled super quick without really looking at it closely and grabbed one that had the "veins" look versus a solid color. I didn't even look at the pile side (although I think it looks better than the mark side). Basically it was a fluke. ;)

Stay away from my #25s. Hahaha just kidding. Welcome to the club. They really are my obsession. Some can have a tight pull but I find that the #26s (also built on the #25 frame) are worse. To me, they fall somewhere in the middle, but I just can't help loving these little things!

Thanks, you've got a beauty of a complete set.
I didn't realize the #26 was on the same frame as the #25. I have a #26 Little Carver and the pull is stiff, but not a problem because I can pinch open the wharncliffe blade.
