GEC #35 Churchill Thread

I love these #35s!! I love single-spring double-end Jacks!!
I bought a Stag example that has nice but unmatched handles, so thought I'd try coloring them a bit. Here are before and after pics, including a nice #68 for comparison of size, and an Ebony Tidioute #35 for contrast of handles. Hope you enjoy them!!Before Stag 1.jpg Before Stag 2.jpg Before Stag 3.jpg Before Stag 4.jpg Before Stag 5.jpg Before Stag 6.jpg

That came out pretty well, Charlie. What did you use?

That 68 is hideous, though. Let me know if you need a hand unloading it. ;)

I know it'll be awhile before they do another run of Churchills, but I hope that the success (as I perceive it) of this opens the door to similar models sooner rather than later. This blade configuration would be great on several other patterns, in my opinion.

Fiebings leather dye and a blow dryer, Colin. I wish I'd used a brown with more yellow or red in it, but it's pretty good.
The #68 is ~100 year old bark "pachyderm", which I traded to Bill six - seven years ago!!
Sorry you don't approve!!:(
:D

It’s stunning! Great coloration on the bark.

Very good job Charlie, there's me thinking you must have buried in the garden for a few weeks:D:cool:

I don't see why this thread would die out never to return? It should just evolve, in a few weeks time people can report on their experiences and show off their more aged (chomped down:eek::D) Churchills. i can report that I decided to force patina by cutting lemons and leaving the Clip blade in an apple overnight. Not repeating that mistake again:( yes it took on colour and it took on a nasty deep pit as well that can't be removed. Very surprised by this reaction-not happened before.

Wow Charlie! You really did hurry up.

That Stag looks great as well as the Ebony and the buttery orange covers on that 68 are incredible!

I suspect this thread will gradually dwindle away soon so I'll do what I can for now to prevent it.

My fourth, and probably last, Churchill arrived today. I bought this one from a dealer who provides individual pics and I'm more than satisfied with the color of the Ebony wood on both sides. That brown streak under the shield is some kind of reflection or camera phenomenon and I don't see that brown patch under the front pin either with my spectacled eyes. This one has the best snap on both blades of the four Churchills that I own. Nothing at all to complain about. Very pleased.

Thanks Will, Factor and Rick!
Sorry about the "pit", Will, but now that knife is yours!!:)

Don't have the best lighting in the house, and getting dark at 5:00 stinks, so many apologies for the dreary photo...

I was happy to get my first yellow rose, but kind of regret not getting a cougar claw or ebony to put in my pocket, as these are just about the perfect user. Hopefully they'll still be around at Christmas, and my wife can take a hint;)
