GEC #35 Churchill Thread

This thread needs more glamour shots.

This is the photograph that pushed me over the edge to go ahead and order one of these... Well done.

Well you guys and gals are a bad influence on me to . I was happy with my Stag alone . But after revisiting and admiring here.
I just had to have another but in black Ebony , So it's on the way .

Isn't it great when you can kick the tires of a certain GEC, take it home, drive it around a bit, weigh it's pros and cons and then... if it's all you want it to be, leisurely shop for an additional model with different options?
With the Churchill I've been able to do just that. Upon ordering my second 35 I realize I enjoyed the entire process. If existing stock permits me to experience that same process, I may pick a third. I'd like to have 'em all but for me to truly enjoy the hobby, the hunt is as important as the acquisition and these 35's have been most enjoyable. :)

Very happy with mine. The blades rub together (they actually rest on one another when closed) but that’s ok, it’s not going to spend its life sitting in the tube. I knocked down some high spots on the stag to even things out and polished it back up. Now it’s time to get it scratched from use.

I've fallen in love with the #35 Churchill because, IMO, it's a good size and has a very useful blade combination. I've received the maroon linen micarta, the hummingbird acrylic, and the green banana bone. And I just ordered the stag covered version also. I'm a sick, sick man. Sadly I don't think there's a cure for the knife illness in which I'm afflicted. LOL.

Yeah, it’s probably the release i was most excited about this year.

Here’s my Churchill trifecta. Please forgive my terrible photography, it does ZERO justice to these knives. After falling in love with the ebony I had to have the clawed bone and acrylic. And speaking of the Hummingbird...these need to be seen in person to fully appreciate. There is SO much depth and color to it that just can’t be seen in pictures. I’ll say it again: this is easily my favorite GEC pattern in recent years.

I just posted a few days ago that my most recent Churchill purchase would probably be my last. That still might hold true but I'm already thinking about getting one more.

I've fallen for the pattern too and somehow four of them just doesn't seem like enough. I need to take a group photo but I'm holding off in case there's a fifth one to include.

Fiebings leather dye and a blow dryer, Colin. I wish I'd used a brown with more yellow or red in it, but it's pretty good.
The #68 is ~100 year old bark "pachyderm", which I traded to Bill six - seven years ago!!
Sorry you don't approve!!:(
:D
That looks mighty nice. I tried leather dye on bone, and it didn't seem to have much effect, but it was a darker color than yours.

What can I say to enable you Rick?;):)

LOL. If you have one of the variants below that I don't already have you can tell me how great it is.:D

Stag
Maroon Micarta
Cougar Clawed Bone
Of the three I own, the Cougar Clawed Bone is the thickest and heaviest. Feels great in hand and still carries nice and slim. In person it reminds me of the offspring of oily creek bone and stag. Might be my favorite of the three varieties I have.

I need to grab a micarta and CC bone myself, but I must urge you, Railsplitter, if you have a nice stag spotted, grab it while the grabbing is good. My stag is what made me fall for this pattern!

Heck, you can always come by some more cash somehow, but once the good stags are in collections, that's it, ya know?
