I find myself carrying a lot of different knives lately, but the Churchill still gets plenty of pocket time. The bone is already mellowing and the color change is becoming somewhat drastic. I love how this one is aging.

Here's the day I received it:

I had carried mine every day since I received it. The new 78 went in the pocket for today. Mine has gone from almost black to a dark brown.

I feel the same about the blade combo; stout clip and thin sheepsfoot make for a very versatile pattern, and all on a single spring. GEC really hit it out of the park with this one.Nice ones! I find my micarta Churchill has replaced my long time favorite Barlows & stockmans for every day carry. It's just the right size & blade combo for me. I've come to like it so much that I ordered one in cougar clawed bone yesterday.
Sure, why not. I probably wouldn't work it into the pivot howeverSlicing an avocado counts as oiling the blade, right?

That green acrylic looks fantastic. While I'm not usually a fan of synthetics, GECs always acrylic always tempts me.![]()
I'm still loving my churchill, especially pairing it with my other "green" knife.
That's the only reason I bought the 35 was for this particular acrylic. Only later did I discover how great a knife it is!That green acrylic looks fantastic. While I'm not usually a fan of synthetics, GECs always acrylic always tempts me.

I am going to miss this thread when everyone moves on to the next new knife. But I do believe that these Churchill’s will stand the rest of time and show up repeatedly on the Porch.
So Leslie, it may be a hard question to answer because there are obvious variables, but do you like either the 35 or 78 better?View attachment 831161

Thanks for your thoughts Leslie. I am a die hard Jack knife kinda guy, but find the 35 a wonderful, comfortable knife to use. The big Clip combined with the uber useful Sheepfoot just works so well for me. I have a Stag 35 en route so something is definitely happening hereView attachment 831181
Paul, the 78’s are elegant knives. That pattern is a perfect platform to show off the handle material. And GEC outdid themselves with the handle choices. That’s why I am up to three 78’s now when my used to be hard and fast rule rule was one knife per pattern.
But, I do not believe that the 78’s have the same heart and soul that the Churchill’s have. The Churchill is a knife that I can see myself using hard, day in and day out. It really becomes part of you, like a watch. I believe that’s why I only felt the desire to buy one Churchill. For me, it was that Cougar Clawed version, and that’s the only one I need.
Great photograph and site !! Look like a great place to gather on a cold eveningView attachment 831161
