The knife has been modified from its original state (secondary blade removed) but that doesn't bother me at all.

Union Knifeworks (not to be confused with Union Cutlery Co.) was only in business from 1911-1913 according to Goins so it's kind of a rarity. I adore the little bugger despite the fact that it's been modified.

I feel the 38 is one of the most beautiful patterns when closed but rather awkward looking when open. That odd hump back where blade meets handle just bugs me.
 
OP you made a great choice! I have the same knife and used it to harvest morel mushrooms yesterday morning!
