GEC #48 Dogleg Jack

Nice Fruitport collection! I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a Wharncliffe Fruitport. I do have a clip version that is a great knife.

^^ nice oiled bone. It's on my wish list . Fortunate to have the clip verision in the best stag I own . I'm really picky about stag. One of these day I'll get it together and start posting pics .

Here's my one and only Fruitport. I keep my eyes open for others. Very nice knives.

Great looking Scagels, Tom and Gary! Looking forward to seeing your Stag, John!:D

Got mine today too, Ron. I can't find a single flaw with it.

Just put order in on the white bone 48 . Not quite oil bone scagel but it will have to do for now.

Looks like the white bone clip is not the muskrat used on the others . I'm good with that . It's the cover shot today

I'd say better for me... I much prefer the bar shield, end cap, and nail nick. It's a winner in my book. Bonus for you it's in Texas so you will probably be one of the first customers to get it. They didn't make very many of these. It was a short run to test prior to running the damascus...

A Bloodwood Weasel and its Cranberry Dogleg cousin!:D

I really like the looks of that Cranberry bone. Was that from 2015? I have to say that I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the pickle and blueberry scales. Even the Antique Amber doesn't seem very amber when looking back at earlier uses of that name. I have resisted thus far and am holding out for a 2-blade stag model.

Don't forget, you can Dye the bone with RIT. This way a white bone SFO can be any color you want.

I've noticed also how the ends of the scales lately have been very light to white after dying. My antique amber is like that on one side and I have a blueberry coming that is fairly light on the ends. All my other jigged bone scales are pretty even from older runs. Wonder what the reason is? Kinda reminds me of a Case Swayback Gent I had in blue. Half of the scale was bright white! Ended up sending it back because of the awful coloring and it had severe blade rub.

Yes it is from 2015 and thanks for the compliment. I also really like the Cranberry and especially the jigging pattern used on this model. I only bought the Bloodwood single and I have a Smooth Rotten Banana Bone on reserve. Of course I do have one each of the Diamond Jack's on reserve as well. :D

That's what this run has reminded me of, the recent Case dye jobs. I won't buy Case dyed bone models sight-unseen anymore, which is too bad. I hope that this isn't something new with the dye used, or the process. Maybe a new supply of dense bone that doesn't take dye as well? I'm just throwing thoughts out there, as I really don't know.

It could be due to the scale shape. There is a lot of material that needs to be taken off at the thin end.
