GEC #68 Pony Jack

Just a quick Q rma, will these knives have steel bolsters? That was standard on the boy's knife wasn't it? Or maybe I am out in left field on this.

No worries either way. As soon as they come out I'll be having you get one out the door for me. :)

Didn't all the Tidioute Boy's Knives and TC Barlows have Long Pulls and Swedges? Okay Guys, Here is the word directly from Chris. These will not be F&F Knives. They will be 1095 Carbon Steel Blades and in the same type as the Boy's Knives. Tidioute Cutlery Brand, no etch, no shield. Obviousley Long Pull and Swedge.

If they can use some of the good looking jigging and use some of the "antique" bones, I'll have to get one.

Steel Bolsters and Liners were standard on the Boy's Knives. I am only assuming they will also be on the Pony Jack. We didn't discuss that.

I'm going to have to start saving up! I've been thinking about the boys knife for awhile, but as an underemployed substitute teacher I haven't been able to pull the trigger. This new offering, however, I have to have! It's all that I have been looking for, especially with ebony covers.

Here is my most prized possession...an old Camillus that my grandfather gave to me right out of his pocket some 26 years ago:

Equal-end jack, pocketable size, clip/pen combination, carbon steel, no bail ...... This may just be my dream pocketknife!

I will be honest, although I was the first to be surprised at the F&F guess, I was quite curious about O1
I also hope for steel liners and bolsters. Shield or not, it doesn't matter much to me, I will hunt an ebony one anyway.
I don't know if GEC is putting a name to this line or not, but I do like the choices on the boys knife, and wish for the same things on the pony jack, and other patterns as well. It's a sort of "simple but fine" idea, and honestly I wish they will go on this path more than on the F&F one. But it's just me.
Now, there's only one question left.
When will they hit the streets? :p

Very cool! My list just keeps growing and growing because I can't make enough money to keep up with all of GEC's patterns and keep the old lady happy at the same time lol.

Looking forward to jigged bone.

While I really like the idea of this pattern, I can't see it replacing my White Owl. Still, looking forward to seeing the ebony versions.

I also would like a definitive answer on this:

Could someone please define "Pony Jack" for me? I always thought it implied a peanut sized jack, which the 68 definitely is not?

The GEC one looks like an equal-end jack, but Utica makes a serpentine clip-and-pen "pony jack," Winchester has a single-blade bare-end with bail, and I found a small (looks like) sleeveboard clip-and-pen "pony jack" in a 1951 Camillus catalog. Is there any real definition?

I hope the nail nicks are on the same side of both blades.

I really hope they do a Northfield run of the Pony Jacks! In any case, I bet the jigged bone one will lool great.
