GEC #68 Pony Jack

Oh, my...

Oh, my indeed. Those are beautiful.

Fortunately for my wallet, Glenn recently rehandled this old Camillus for me, so when the 68 pony jack starts calling my name all I have to do is pull out this hunter green Camillus and let it whisper to me, "Be still, little heart. I've got you covered."

Very fine looking knives, I expect the spear to be very nice as well. This is a pattern that I have had a lot of people looking for in some smaller frame.

Doug, very nice Camillus.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of the all steel bolsters and liners?

Would this be a good knife for EDC?

Oh man! I don't know if I should order one for my first GEC. Other choice would be white owl, or half whittler.

I just HAD to order a Pony Jack in Antique Yellow with Spear main. Two in a row sight unseen, this and the forum knife. I have a feeling these Pony Jacks may be as popular as the Boy's Knives.

Well, I just ordered a Spear in the Yellow Bone. Gonna go camp out at the mailbox.

Will there be a Northfield edition of these?

I really hope they do! I hope they do a small sized jigged bone, and some exotic woods if they do do a Northfield version. I also hope they keep them without the shields, but if they add shields, I hope that they are pinned.

Joepa150, these would be great for edc. All steel means a strong knife that will take a pretty good beating as well as a nice patina over the entire knife with time and use. If you like shiny knives look elsewhere. Personally I prefer all steel for edc and currently carry either an #85, #92 or #15 in this format. Also have one of these enroute as well. This one looks really sweet.

I'm a sucker for this antique yellow! I couldn't decide clip or spear, so... I bought both:confused: I think these will find a lot of pocket time like my boy's knives. GEC, you're evil!

Thanks for the info. They do look sweet. A nice even patina is nice compared to just the blades.

Tough choices, those! Do you have any idea if you have a preference for a typical Jack-- two blades on one end, a spring for each-- or a one-spring knife with a blade on each end? That's exactly the difference between the Pony Jack and the White Owl, with the Half-whittler having the same one-spring, opposite-end configuration as the Owl but with the asymmetric handle....

Not that you don't already know that. :)

I'm partial to Jacks, so would probably opt into the Pony Jack as a first. However, my White Owl was my first-ever GEC, and is one of my favorite knives of all.

Decisions!

(Good luck, and have fun.)

They have a picture of a spear point up on their site. Very nice lines. I wonder if the spear points on these are as difficult to open as the boy's knife? Not that much of a problem for me, but if I had to nitpick...
