GEC #74 Mustang

Does anyone know what blade shape these will have? And how do you come across this info?

The "Mustang" is a drop point pattern on the 74 that GEC has done before (you can search their older patterns on their website). The "Stallion" is a clip point on the 74. Northwoods has done an Esky Zulu (zulu spear blade) on the 74 pattern before. They've also done a cotton sampler on the 74 and a wharncliffe and clip point two-blade trapper on the 74.

I'd be in for a zulu. Probably in for a clip. Potentially in for a drop. I love a drop point, but I have several 501s that fill that role nicely. All the examples in this thread are awesome, though!

Good information..... Thank you!

So it sounds like if they switch the blade configuration then it would no longer be a stallion or mustang? That's too bad because I'd love to get one of these with a lambsfoot or sheepsfoot blade. At least my wallet is safe this time unless they come out with some really cool handle material I must have.

That's right. They'd change the name to something else if they changed blade style or number of blades. A lambsfoot on the 74 would be cool, but I think they'd be more likely to flip it to the 47 for the swayback.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I didn’t realize that the Mustang would always have the drop point blade. That’s what Im looking for! :D
Any of you USA guys wanna “proxy” (For lack of a better word) for me?
And thank you again. How you find out this info is puzzling for me. Haha. Google didnt help me at all.

EDIT: I think proxy was the wrong word.
Was hoping to have someone who is watching when they drop snag one for me as well. Hahaha. Sorry for the confusion.
